Set up Gemini LTI™ with Moodle

This article is for administrators.

To set up Gemini LTI™ in Moodle:

  1. Turn on Google Workspace LTI™ service in Admin Console.
  2. Turn on Gemini service in Admin Console.
  3. Turn on Gemini LTI™ in Moodle:
    1. Turn on Gemini LTI™ as an authorized external tool.
    2. Add Gemini LTI™ to all courses or a specific course.

These steps might require assistance from your Learning Management Systems (LMS) administrator.

Turn on Gemini LTI™ as an authorized external tool
  1. On your computer, sign in to Moodle as an administrator.
  2. Click Site administration and then Plugins.
  3. In "Activity modules," scroll to find "Manage tools."
  4. In the "Tool URL" field, enter: https://lti.gemini.google.com/lti/register
  5. Select Add LTI Advantage and then Install.
  6. In the "Tools" section:
    1. Find the Gemini LTI™ tool.
    2. Click Activate.
Add Gemini LTI™ to all courses
  1. On your computer, sign in to Moodle as an administrator
  2. Click Site administration and then Plugins.
  3. In "Activity modules," scroll to find "Manage tools."
  4. Under "Tools:"
    1. Find the Gemini LTI™ tool.
    2. Click Edit .
  5. In "Tool configuration usage," select Show in activity chooser and as a preconfigured tool and then Save changes.
Add Gemini LTI™ to a specific course
  1. On your computer, sign in to Moodle as an administrator or a teacher.
  2. Select a course.
  3. Click More and then LTI External tools.
  4. Find the Gemini LTI™ tool.
  5. Turn on Show an activity chooser.
