@bmf I was at Scottish Ruby Conf in 2012 where you gave a talk that told your path to programming in depth (Alaska Airlines -> working for Wil Shipley for free for a year using your retirement funds from AA... I think). Do you have a link to a video of this or similar talks?
I chatted with a friend today about orders of magnitude of payouts. He suggested "a meal", "a car", "a house", "retirement". My partner's first royalty payment was in the "stick of gum" category. My first one was "a meal".
