Sparking new possibilities ✨ Every year, our internship programmes give university students the chance to get stuck into real projects at Sky, while learning from experts across the business. It’s all about gaining hands-on experience, valuable skills and an insight into life at Sky. Last week, we welcomed our newest interns for their first day at Sky. During the day, they heard from programme alumni Astrid and Seonaid, now Business & Data Analysts - as well as Sophie, our Head of Culture, Talent and Performance. It was a chance to meet the people they'll be learning alongside, explore life at Sky, and get a glimpse of the opportunities ahead. From networking to development sessions, it was the first step in what promises to be an exciting summer.

    • A group of interns wearing colourful lanyards stand together in conversation during a networking session. Several people are gathered in a small circle, gesturing as they speak. Additional attendees can be seen in the background of the event space.
    • Three interns wearing event lanyards stand around a refreshment station with two hot drink dispensers. The group appears to be chatting while holding cups and event materials. The scene takes place in a bright indoor event space, with other attendees visible in the background.
    • A group activity takes place in a meeting room, with several interns standing closely together in discussion. Many participants are holding up one or two fingers as part of an exercise. Event lanyards and name badges are visible throughout the group.
    • A presentation takes place in a large meeting room. Two people stand at the front speaking to an audience seated in rows of chairs. Behind them, a large screen displays the names “Astrid Stirling – Business Analyst” and “Seonaid McCormack – Data Scientist” on a colourful gradient background. Attendees face the stage while listening to the presentation.
    • Two presenters stand at the front of a meeting room beside a large screen displaying a slide. Audience members are seated facing the presenters, with laptops and presentation equipment positioned at the front of the room. The screen includes an image of a football player alongside presentation content.

Our Game Changing report found that girls aged 11–18 miss out on 280 million hours of sport each year compared to boys, highlighting the importance of creating more opportunities that help girls get active, build confidence and develop leadership skills. That’s why we’re proud to support the expansion of Judy Murray’s Learn to Lead programme across Scotland, giving P6 and P7 girls the opportunity to lead tennis clubs that introduce younger children to the sport. By empowering girls to lead their own tennis clubs, Learn to Lead is helping break down those barriers and inspiring more girls to get active, build confidence and discover their potential through sport.

During London Climate Action Week, we brought together creatives, industry leaders and sustainability experts to explore how television can inspire positive action, both on screen and behind the scenes. In partnership with Futerra, our From Script to Screen panel looked at how environmental storytelling can be woven naturally into programming across genres, and the role our industry can play in driving meaningful change through the content we create. Alongside this, we were proud to support the inaugural Pride in Our Planet Awards, hosted by Victoria Seabrook from Sky News alongside Head Judge Katie White OBE MP, celebrating the people and communities making a positive difference across the UK. From the stories we tell to the way we bring them to life, we're committed to playing our part in building a more sustainable future.

Talent is everywhere, opportunity isn’t. Through our partnership with Loughborough University, we're helping create more pathways into sports leadership for people from underrepresented backgrounds. The programme supports emerging leaders from across the sector, helping remove barriers to postgraduate study and investing in the next generation of women, people from ethnic minority backgrounds, people with disabilities and those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. By opening up access to leadership development, we're investing in the future of sport and helping build leadership that better reflects the communities it serves. Hear why representation in sports leadership matters and how this partnership is helping create more inclusive pathways into the industry. Applications are now open.
