Dear Member

Your vote is needed to make sure BCS continues its vision to become a world-leading organisation for IT. The Institute is being led in the direction you, as a member, have told us you want to go.

You have told us that you want help with your career and development of the profession, giving you recognition and influence in a rapidly changing society that depends on IT. That vision is being challenged by a call for an EGM to vote against this direction.

    BCS has come a long way since its founding in 1957. Our primary purpose, as defined in clause two of our Royal Charter of 1984, is now: "to promote the study and practice of Computing and to advance knowledge and education therein for the benefit of the public."

The recent investment in the future would not have been possible without the strong financial position developed over the past seven years. Revenue has grown from £9m in 2001 to £22m in 2008.
