Portable air cleaners should be one of the pillars of school room COVID19 risk reduction. Frustrating feedback from teachers: "not allowed due to no recommendation from CDC" and "we can't give them to one classroom if we don't give them to all"... 1/3

I might be biased about this, but it seems like those in science management (deans, federal agencies) could learn from this: "Just let engineers be engineers". Full disclosure I am related to .

As someone fascinated with logistics, I am impressed at how our local stores are ramping up online shopping/deliver-to-car capability. Every day more items and delivery slots become available and web sites are improved. Amazing how fast they are conquering a steep learning curve.

Situation: 2 bored grandparents confined to home. 2 preschoolers and 2 working parents also confined to home far away. Kids each have tablets. Grpts (and parents) have large monitors. What tech setup will enable grpts to entertain grkids by reading books to them?

The infrastructure that local stores have put in place to compete with Online shopping is standing up to the test. Great shopping experience - almost like being in the store, up-to-date local inventory, innovative (& contact-free) pickup / delivery of perishable food. Impressive!

Learning a lot shopping on-line. At the local grocery store. (Order and pay online, drive up during the appointed window, call or text - they put your groceries in your car.) At the local pharmacy. (Ditto.) At the local Costco. (Same day delivery.) Local is better than Amazon!

Just about the dumbest regulation I've seen: A host of federal agencies do not allow work from home if children are present. So if your kid's school is closed due to virus or weather, you CANNOT WORK FROM HOME! An amazingly short sighted and insulting attack on parents' options.

I am often asked what I think about scaled agile frameworks. This slide does a good job of summing up my viewpoint, except for the last point. We need more research on how successful large companies coordinate the work of small autonomous teams to achieve larger goals.

I receive frequent requests to attend Friction Lab at a US location, but until now, our public workshops have been offered only in Europe. For the first time, we are offering Friction Lab in the US, and you are invited - New York March 4-5.
