Finished my Feisar Agility model (apart from the canopy, need to wait on the right material for the windows). Pretty happy for a first attempt at home model making! Might see if I can record something about it soon, and make my own pipeline for doing this with other game models.

Finished prototype build of the ship model, next to the hopefully-final version drying off after its first base coat.

OK, I think I am starting to get this down; tried some stickering and varnish on one of the misprints and it looks decent!

It's model making weekend here in the basement. The resin printer is running all day churning out parts while I figure out stickers and varnishing!

Initial feelings after an evening - wow, the filesystem performance is much faster. Localhost still works Windows -> Linux. And it has FUSE support! Feels definitely worth the jump right now; the only thing I miss is "ifconfig" showing Windows interfaces.

My Surface Book 3 is here, right on time, so it's time to update it to Windows 10 version 2004 and give WSL2 a shot!

If tech companies are all going to move to distributed work and have employees meet up occasionally, I need to find how to pivot this into having the underground mountain base I've always dreamed of. Maybe rent one out as a meeting location for "maximum inspiration".

I look forward to Facebook employees being easier to poach if they go through with this.

Scaling people's compensation based on location is, to be frank, ridiculous. I don't produce any less work just because I live in Denver rather than San Francisco.

Ahh, this is Zuck squeezing employee compensation long-term:

Really a fan of the speed and materials difference of the laser cutter vs. 3D printing. This headphone hook took 2 minutes and feels nice and solid!

Spent an evening getting my personal finances into GnuCash finally. Hats off to whoever is maintaining OFX DirectConnect support deep inside the various financial institutions I use.

How on earth are they adding GUI support to WSL2 without X11 forwarding? What dark magic is this?!

The prospect that a six-times-a-year injection is more effective at preventing HIV than the incredibly effective PrEP programme is astonishing. May we eradicate HIV in our time.

I might actually call myself an architect more if I got to sing this at every opportunity.

I Am The Very Model of A Modern Software Architect I am the very model of a modern software architect Whose data planes and services do elegantly intersect. Far and wide I’m celebrated for my keen ability To balance throughput, latency, and high-availability.

I am a huge fan of Eurovision, but they have somehow made a show that is more boring than the voting section of the normal contest :(
