About the Creator

Cara Bastone is a full-time writer living and writing in Brooklyn with her husband, son, and an almost-goldendoodle. Her goal with her work is to find the swoon in ordinary love stories. She’s been a fan of the romance genre since she found a grocery bag filled with her grandmother’s old Harlequin Romances when she was in high school. She’s a fangirl for pretzel sticks, long walks through Prospect Park, and love stories featuring men who aren’t cripple by their own masculinity.

About the Perfomer

Neil Hellegers is an actor, Audie-nominated narrator, and educator who lives in Brooklyn with his wife, son, and mutt. On camera, Neil has appeared in film and on television, as seen on Blindspot, House of Cards, Madam Secretary, and others. His voice work can be heard in numerous commercials, video games (including Red Dead Redemption 2), and numerous audiobooks, including Dawn of the Exile by Mitchell Hogan, A Tangled Road to Justice by Olan Thorensen, Call Me Maybe by Cara Bastone, and 100 Love Sonnets by Pablo Neruda for Audible Studios. On stage, he has performed Shakespeare with the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, Aquila Theatre Company, and others, both nationally and internationally. He also directs experimental Shakespeare-based devisings for the Hear Now Festival.

I LOVED this book! It was cute and sweet. The plot was fairly predictable but it was still a thoroughly enjoyably listen. The voice of Cal was super sexy and I'm going to need to find more books he's narrated

The story and characters reminded me of a Hugh Grant romantic comedy. I'll be listening to this one again.

This was a really sweet and fun novella! It’s performed duet style by Luci Christian and Neil Hellegers, which really worked for the set up of the story. I enjoyed having the extra sound effects too! It really made the listening experience feel very interactive. The twists were pretty easy to guess (I didn’t love the plot line with Cal’s dad/Jule), but that didn’t take away from my enjoyment for the story. A quick and fun listen!

This was SO cute!!

I have never listened to an audiobook quite like this. It was a story that was definitely made for an audio listener.

The majority of the story takes place through phone calls. And while unrealistic in spots, that’s not why I listen to or read books. I have enough reality in reality. This was a great escape.

This was one of those books I didn’t want to stop listening to. I loved it so much.

Kal and Vera were so fun to get to know throughout this story. And that’s really what this book was about, them getting to know each other. It was unique in that way because most stories they jump into a relationship and we read to their HEA. In this story, it was all the lead up to them finally meeting in person. And it was perfect.
