Data Research

Data Research encompasses the following programs:

Data Research staff will identify work-related deaths in California based on broader criteria than used in the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries program. The data will be used to support Cal/OSHA enforcement activities.

To support the development of occupational health standards, Data Research staff prepare economic and fiscal impact statements (form 399) and standardized regulatory impact analyses for the Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board. Both are required by Labor Code section 11346.3.

To support the targeting and enforcement activities of Cal/OSHA's High Hazard Unit, Data Research staff identify workplaces with high rates of preventable occupational injuries and illnesses and workers' compensation losses. This data is used to generate the annual High Hazard Industry List required by Labor Code section 6314.1.
