Meerut Engineers Develop Wireless Charging System For Electric Cars

Electric cars are surely the future, but they still have time to evolve to have a range like petrol or diesel vehicles, especially for long drives, since they normally take a considerable amount of time to juice up.

However, a novel innovation by engineers Sagar Kumar and Rohit Rajbhar at Meerut Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) aim to solve that, by allowing electric vehicles to wirelessly charge while they're being driven.



The proposal for this novel charging tech was sent to NITI Aayog which provided the team with a financial aid of Rs 20,000.

The engineers have had the idea with them for a while however, they couldn’t work on a prototype due to financial constraints. They eventually contacted Atal Community Innovation Centre, which then selected their project and offered funds for developing a prototype.


A senior scientist from the Regional Science and Technology Centre, Mahadev Pandey, explained that the tech works on electromagnetic force systems. He however states that the tech could help the development of the nation provided its range is improved.
