Can Immersive Storytelling Rewire How We Imagine the Future? How can immersive art spark urgent optimism about the future? On October 2, Vision2030 premiered "The Lumisphere Experience" at the Museum of Tomorrow in Rio de Janeiro, with immersive foresight and design futures work from IFTF researchers Jane McGonigal and Jake Dunagan. Moving through three connected domes, visitors are guided by voice and visual storytelling, encountering sweeping projections and calming soundscapes designed to open space for collective dreaming. In the final dome, participants use a tablet with prompts and AI tools to envision an eco-future inspired by their journey. Alongside the experience, IFTF researchers will study whether the Lumisphere boosts hope, agency, and readiness to face uncertain futures. Check out Institute for the Future’s latest research on the Future of Commerce, with Frank Cooper III & the team from Visa. More here: https://lnkd.in/g-bevtH5 #GetThereEarly #Foresight #GenAlpha Dylan Hendricks Rachel Maguire Jean Hagan Susanne Forchheimer
In the next ten years, Gen Alpha will be coming of age, and they’ll bring a whole new approach to “adulting” to the forefront. Gen Alpha is expected to approach technology and consumerism differently than other generations — that's something Visa recently explored in chapter three of our Commerce of Tomorrow, Today report. We made the report in partnership with Institute for the Future to explore possible futures that merchants, banks, and consumers may face in the next decade. And I had the opportunity to speak about this onstage with Rachel Thornton, Dara Treseder, and Ellie Austin during Fortune’s Brainstorm Tech 2025. The report shows how Gen Alpha’s spending behavior is likely to be shaped by their experiences engaging with complex decision making through video games, social media dashboards, and AI. They’ll have sophisticated digital tools like agentic AI to help them track and optimize their time, energy, and money. And these tools will be embedded and native in their lives. Our research even inspired us to refer to Gen Alpha the “Dashboard Generation,” because they are smart swipers that don’t just scroll, but scrutinize. They are curious to click but are critical of the content they consume. They’re always scanning and skimming but also skipping what doesn’t matter to them. They are discerning with their time, making up their minds in seconds rather than minutes, hours, or even days later. It's time for brands to take user’s time into account and be a little more perceptive with when and how they reach them. What do you think? How do you think brands can better connect with the next generation as they enter adulthood? Would love to hear your thoughts.

CEO with forward-looking lens | Visionary executive proven to implement strategic initiatives | Passionate advocate
I’m thrilled to announce the upcoming release of a book that I co-authored, “Navigating the Age of Chaos.” A little over a year ago, I was asked to join Jamais Cascio and Bob Johansen, two visionary futurists of the Institute for the Future (IFTF), to create a tool that leaders can use to make sense of the unprecedented times in which we’re living. Enter the BANI framework: Brittle, Anxious, Nonlinear, and Incomprehensible. BANI is a fresh lens to characterize the unpredictable nature of our world. But this isn't just new terminology, it points to a new way of leading. This book transforms theory into a practical guide for navigating chaos and uncertainty. It offers actionable strategies to help leaders and organizations not only survive in this new world but to shape it, turning unpredictability into an opportunity for growth and resilience. In the book, I highlight United Way as a future-focused force for good, and I’m proud that all royalties from my participation in the book will be donated to United Way Worldwide. "Navigating the Age of Chaos” will be released worldwide on October 28. Here’s to navigating the future, together!

In a recent podcast, Institute for the Future Distinguished Fellow Bob Johansen spoke with Gilad Berenstein to help us take a step back to consider the deeper impacts of technology on society, and ways that we can personally cope with the rapidly changing world. "No matter what we call it, we are witnessing profound transformations in the fundamental structures of society. In these chaotic times we need to bring the long view back as a part of strategy lest we doom ourselves to endless improvised responses to an external world that seems out of our control. We need to marry improvisation and imagination to move beyond chaos." From IFTF Executive Director Marina Gorbis and IFTF Director, IFTF Foresight Essentials Lyn Jeffery, who co-authored "Strategy in the Age of Chaos: Retooling Foresight for Today's World." This essay still has us thinking about the 3 critical ways organizations need to change, to prepare for radically different futures. https://lnkd.in/gqKQTyU4 #strategicforesight #futurereadiness #futureready #futuresthinking

We are excited to join Members Development Company for the STRATEGIC FORESIGHT WORKSHOP: Alternative Futures 2035, coming up in Nashville, with Jake Dunagan, PhD, Institute for the Future Director of the Governance Futures Lab! We will explore four distinct, plausible futures, and the forces and signals of change that could shape them, in a series of scenario videos in "Futures Worth Imagining." #scenariobuilding #alternativefutures #futurereadiness #strategicforesight #futuresthinking
💡 Big ideas matter most when they come from peers you trust. Here’s how David Tuyo, President & CEO of Peak Credit Union, described MDC’s partnership with the Institute for the Future: “This collaboration is incredibly important to our strategic direction, especially as we navigate the evolving landscape of financial services and member expectations. We're grateful to be a part of it." That’s the impact of foresight in action — and the kind of perspective you’ll gain at Alternative Futures 2035 this October in Nashville.
