Today is the final day of Orientation for our newly minted Digital Inclusion Fellows! Over three days in Portland, the Fellows got to know one another and the digital inclusion challenges they are trying to solve in their respective areas. They return to their cities equipped with the tools, support, and community they need to take on this challenge. A big welcome to the new cohort. We know you will accomplish great things this year in bridging digital divides in your communities, and we will be cheering from the sidelines! We can change the world when we change our approach to technology.
About us
We're a community of nonprofit professionals who recognize that technology is integral to our work and lives. We've seen firsthand in our communities that access to technology and using it effectively is a consistent barrier across all forms of inequity. Together we can dismantle existing systems of oppression and create new ways for our organizations to approach technology strategically and deploy it in racially equitable ways.

Did you have a week like we did where Monday's "to do list" items are still on the list on *checks notes* Saturday? Same, y'all. 🫠 And if one of those items was submitting a session idea for #26NTC, know that we didn't turn off the submission tool! There's no expectation that proposals at this stage have more than just a few sentences to illustrate your idea, or that your co-presenters are confirmed. Even if you haven't started a draft yet but had an idea, go ahead and submit: https://lnkd.in/eF9F-CKf The team will actually close the submissions on Monday at 9 am pacific time. And any drafts still remaining at that time that haven't been submitted will get a note from us too. Happy submitting!

The South has long been a site of both corporate extraction and fierce political resistance. At a time where #BigTech is rapidly expanding data centers in Black, brown and working class communities that drain natural resources, energy, and clean water, our people are rising up and fighting back. TODAY, we’re launching The People Say No: Resisting Data Centers in the South, the first comprehensive regional analysis of data centers in the South. Including original research and five case studies highlighting how data centers have harmed Black, brown, and working class communities in Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia, and South Carolina, our new report dives into how the Tech Broligarchy has expanded data centers across the region and how Southern communities are fighting back. Read the full report below and register for our LIVE Launch next WEDNESDAY, September 17th at 5:30 PM ET | 2:30 PM PT. bit.ly/nodatacenters

Reflections from the NTEN DC Metro Area Tech Club event yesterday, organized by Roshani K., on 'Creative Resistance: Leveraging Tech & Community to Survive and Thrive'. 🌻 NTEN Tech Clubs bring together local communities of individuals interested in social impact and technology. You will attend events, talks, and meetups in your city to discuss the numerous tech trends that are shaping this epochal time. Check if there's a tech club in your city: nten.org/connect

Yesterday I had the chance to attend the NTEN DMV event on creative resilience—and left inspired by so many thoughtful conversations around tech, community, and the nonprofit sector. A few key takeaways stood out for me: ✨ AI curiosity is real. Many folks are exploring how AI can help nonprofits better understand their communities, missions, and programs. At the same time, there’s a strong recognition that policy standards, data privacy, and anonymization must be front and center to protect the people we serve. ✨ Community ownership matters. Too often, nonprofits operate in a service-only model. A big discussion centered on how organizations can partner with their communities so that people aren’t just recipients, but co-owners of the mission and programs. That shift in ownership builds resilience and a stronger impact. Most of all, I walked away energized by the incredible people I met —leaders and practitioners across many sectors and roles, who were all united by a common drive to create positive change. It’s a hopeful reminder of what’s possible when we combine technology, strategy, and human connection. Thank you to NTEN DMV, Roshani K. for moderating, and all the panelists (Elisabeth Bradley of Forum One, Benjamin Childers of Stratovation Partners, Teresa Crawford, Reid Dossinger of The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, Emily Goodstein of Greater Good Strategy and Benjamin Stokes of American University). for sparking such meaningful dialogue.

Hey you! #Nonprofit friend! Social impact pal! It’s time to submit your session proposals for NTEN's 2026 Nonprofit Technology Conference. Proposals are due next week, September 19. I don’t need to tell you how much I love this community. NTC has been instrumental in helping me grow into a nonprofit professional who actually believes my voice has value, that I have something to offer back to the community that has given me so much. And I believe the same is true for you. I spoke for the first time last year after many years of just attending. It was small, it was short, it was terrifying. And it was so worth it. People connected with my story, they learned from my ideas, and the energy I carried after was unforgettable. NTC is about community. We do this work together. Sharing our hard-earned lessons, even the messy ones, matters. You’ve solved problems, tried things, failed, figured stuff out. And you’ve done it with smaller teams, tighter budgets, but all the heart. That’s expertise. And this conference needs your perspective. 📌 Submit a session proposal: https://lnkd.in/gTSM8Y6h ✨ Special note: If you identify as BIPOC, there’s a community call tomorrow, September 11 (10–11 am PT) to talk about the process. It’s a safe space to hear from past speakers of color, ask questions, and get support with your proposal. Join the NTEN BIPOC online community here: https://lnkd.in/gBBkSSAG So, submit. Take the leap. Share your voice. We’ll all be better for it. 💪 #26NTC #nptech #nonprofits #BIPOC

Last year at #25NTC (Nonprofit Technology Conference), I was talking to someone who told me they had written an entire session proposal... but didn't end up hitting submit. That happened to me the first time I wanted to submit a session, and I'm sure it's happened to a lot of people. That's why in my role as co-organizer of NTEN's BIPOC online affinity community, I'm coordinating a special supplemental community call for Black, Indigenous, and other people of color to get support, encouragement, tips, and feedback on their session proposals and process questions from past speakers of color. I'm also hoping to connect past BIPOC speakers with new or newer proposal submitters for one-on-one support and review as needed - if you're a past speaker and willing to get questions via email or phone in the next couple weeks, DM me and I'll send you more info! 🤎 BIPOC community call for 26NTC session proposals 🤎 Thursday, September 11, 10:00-11:00am PT (11am MT, 12pm CT, 1pm ET start times) NTEN’s BIPOC Affinity Online Community is hosting a special call for Black, Indigenous, and other people of color interested in submitting session proposals for the 2026 Nonprofit Technology Conference (26NTC), especially first timers. Hear tips and experiences from past session speakers, ask questions, connect with someone for one-on-one advice/review, and workshop your ideas (if time). This call will supplement the general community call on 9/10 and will not be an overview of all the information on how to submit. Past speakers are encouraged to attend to support new ones! Automated closed captioning will be available. This call will be recorded and posted to the BIPOC Online Community. Join NTEN’s BIPOC-only online community (link in comments) to access the Zoom link or recording (requests to join are moderated, so please sign up as soon as possible) or DM me if I know you!
