That said, AI token spend behaves very differently from seat-based software spend, and it can scale quickly (and quietly) across teams. Part of my job is to give stakeholders timely financial information so they can make informed decisions. When I got an early look at Ramp's AI Token Spend Management in beta, I immediately saw its potential and started using it and sharing with others on our team. It lets users and leaders see AI spend in real time, across multiple providers, with views by user, model, and team, without finance becoming a bottleneck or taking on burdensome reporting. Alberto Flores shared thisAlberto Flores shared thisThe best leadership lesson I've learned came from the first venture investor in OpenAI. I first met Vinod Khosla, in 2018 when we were raising our series A for Workstream. Vinod founded Khosla Ventures, a $15 billion VC fund which has invested in companies from OpenAI, DoorDash, Square, Stripe, Instacart and more. He was the one who taught me "The team you build is the company you build". The people at your company are your culture, your standard of excellence, your recruiting engine for the future and more. He taught me the importance of building teams, and how your first ten hires shapes the trajectory of your company. The people you hire become your culture. They set your standards. That lesson completely changed how I think about hiring. Your first 10 hires shape your first 100. Your first 100 shape your first 1,000. He immigrated to the US at age 21 to study at Stanford Business School. In 1982, Vinod co-founded Sun Microsystems (SUN is the acronym for the Stanford University Network), along with Stanford classmates, selling network servers and processes, and created the Java programming language. Looking back, I realize that products evolve. Markets change. Technology changes. But one thing doesn’t: the quality of your company will never exceed the quality of your people. Thank you, Vinod, for your mentorship and for the lessons that continue to shape how I build.

When your manager tells you to work on a particular development area—or if you’re just feeling the itch for self-improvement—these are the books to read. To keep this list extremely high signal-to-noise, I forced myself to pick only three books per category (so hard!), and only books I’ve completed. The collection includes both classics and under-the-radar gems. I very much like Marc Andreeson's take that you should mostly read books that are over 10 years old (because those are the books that have stood the test of time), so you’ll notice no super new books. There are so many great titles that I didn’t include here, either because I haven’t had a chance to read them or they just didn’t make the cut. I’m sorry if I didn’t include your book, or a book you love. I probably forgot some important ones, too. That’s why we’ll have a part 2, coming soon! Alberto Flores liked thisAlberto Flores liked thisThree years of scurrying across the Charles River, from Harvard Business School to the Harvard Kennedy School and back again. Those many walks — whether through blizzards or rainbows or on a knee scooter — will stick with me for all my days. As will (I hope) the dear friends often in lock step beside me, pushing me to try harder, to be kinder, to want more for the world we’ve inherited. It’s a particularly strange time to get both an MBA and a Public Policy Master’s. Those two spheres seem more disparate than ever, and on both sides of the river I sometimes felt like the odd one out: the policy student gleefully interning at fashion brands and the MBA student pleading for more regulatory oversight. A favorite professor from undergrad, Dr. Quinn Mecham, once reminded a distraught, teenaged version of myself that life is more interesting in the midst of the contradictions. Nearly a decade later I’m pleased to say that the last three years of my life were, in fact, by far the most interesting yet. Thank you to my professors, my friends (especially my dear jointee cohort), and sweet Ethan who moved across the country for me to chase what I wanted (again).

Alberto Flores liked thisAlberto Flores liked thisIn May, I graduated from Princeton University magna cum laude, earning a degree from the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs with minors in Finance and Spanish. I was also honored to receive the Allen Macy Dulles ’51 Spirit of Princeton Award and to speak at our Class Day ceremony. Next month, I will be returning to Boston Consulting Group (BCG) as an Associate in New York. Looking further ahead, I am excited to share that I have been accepted into Harvard Business School through its 2+2 deferred admission program, with plans to matriculate in two to four years. Thank you to all who supported me throughout these last four years. I am deeply grateful for my experience at Princeton and looking forward to what’s next!

I’m incredibly honored to join CBS as a Fellow of The Consortium for Graduate Study in Management and recipient of the Columbia Impact Scholarship, which has awarded me a full-tuition and fees scholarship. I remember visiting Columbia University for the first time during the bridges Multicultural Resource Center Graduate School Tour in 2018. From that moment on, earning an MBA at Columbia became a dream of mine. It’s surreal to see that dream become reality! This achievement isn’t mine alone. Alberto Flores liked thisAlberto Flores liked thisWhy do I enjoy what I do? It’s what I call Organized Chaos…. This week I was at the Yum! headquarters in Plano, TX helping with our KFC LA&C event. The mission… feed 160 partners from 30+ countries showcasing some of the food innovation coming our way. Normally I’m the restaurant tech guy. I’m the one talking about POS, integrations, digital menus… trying to convince people that technology actually makes restaurant life easier. (Sometimes I even succeed.) I traded my laptop for a chef coat. For three days it was prep, cook, assemble, plate, run food… then do it all over again. Twice a day. I loved every minute of it. From the outside it looks like complete chaos. Timers going off, people calling things out, someone looking for tongs that disappeared five minutes ago. But somehow it all works because everyone knows their role, trusts each other, and just gets it done. The food got great feedback, but that wasn’t my favorite part. Working alongside people from different teams, jumping in wherever needed, and watching it all come together reminded me why I enjoy this business so much. I am really lucky to share moments like this with my team!

Creative Breakfasts nourishes young people and children from low-income backgrounds both physically and mentally, helping them discover and manage their emotions while integrating into the creative economy.
The program consists of donating one breakfast plate through partnerships with local NGOs and teaching students values, nutrition, leadership, meditation, yoga, self-defense, creativity, and emotional intelligence.
We currently reach 1500 children and have made over 2,000…Creative Breakfasts nourishes young people and children from low-income backgrounds both physically and mentally, helping them discover and manage their emotions while integrating into the creative economy.
The program consists of donating one breakfast plate through partnerships with local NGOs and teaching students values, nutrition, leadership, meditation, yoga, self-defense, creativity, and emotional intelligence.
We currently reach 1500 children and have made over 2,000 donations. We work in collaboration with Fundación Hogar de Cristo, Barrios de Paz, Coopera para la Acción y Desarrollo, and Global Shapers Guayaquil. -
