3 skills top SDRs exhibit that rarely get talked about on here. The No Fluff, no BS version👇 The best SDRs I’ve worked with consistently do these 3 things differently: 1️⃣ They understand their prospect’s job at an insane level Not just memorizing the persona battlecard. I mean truly understanding: -What their prospects day actually looks like -How they’re measured -What frustrates them -How they talk They emulate the exact jargon and nomenclature their prospects use, earning trust fast. Because your prospects aren’t fluent in “sales robot.” But they are fluent in their world. Speak that language. 2️⃣ Maniacal attention to detail The gap between good and great is in the details. Top SDRs obsess over things like: -Confirming time zones before sending invites -Using a prospect’s preferred name -Giving their AE real context (not just “why they’re taking the meeting”) -Clean CRM notes Nothing slips. Details compound. 3️⃣ “Work like a dog eats” mentality They repeat what works, over and over. Whats that "actually" mean Brian? -They Use checklists -Hold THEMSELVES accountable to daily standards -Able to replicate action when "something clicks" Want an example of replicating when something clicks? Pattern recognition in objection handling. They’ve seen it before. They know how it ends. They don’t get rattled. Top SDRs aren’t flashy. They’re disciplined & Detail-oriented. And obsessed with mastering the fundamentals. That’s the difference.

SDR leaders, watch for this pattern. New SDR starts. Uses your call framework. Asks simple questions. Pipeline starts flowing. Fast forward 6 months… They know the product inside and out. And oddly enough… their calls get worse. This is called The Curse of Knowledge. A cognitive bias where experts assume everyone else understands what they understand. Suddenly calls sound like this: Feature explanations Product jargon Mini demos on a cold call Instead of: Simple questions Curiosity Conversations about the problem Ironically, knowing too much can hurt discovery. The best SDR coaching moment isn’t teaching reps more about the product. It’s helping them forget it for a minute. And get back to the basics.

In sales you are only as good as the questions you ask Yet when someone is interviewing (even the best sellers and execs) they over or under think it rules for questions in an interview 1️⃣ right questions, right persona 2️⃣ context matters - just because you think someone understands where you are coming from doesn't mean they do - questions without context of what you have done, what you think, what you learned from your champion can come off as "jr" 3️⃣ like sales, questions should be a continuation that loops together - how do the insights you get from recruiting, flow into the peer/manager and then c suite convos? phase 1 ✨ - give context - ask question - dig deep phase 2 ✨ - ask for specifics - give me a time, walk me through, can you describe - see how it feels in your gut/ chest - do you trust this? - any interviewer can give buzz words and generic responses - you can build off of the context they gave you to ask more qs and position yourself phase 1 & 2 recap 🎯 - context builds - if they trust they are talking to a peer/expert the "quality" and candid nature of their responses increases - qs show your disco/ sales process - your ability to uncover data points shows you know how to uncover need and qualify Phase 3 ✨ - validate - ask them to "show you" rather than tell you - offer to "show them" rather than tell in your follow up or agenda - give and get - how you use this, or build off of this idea or bring new ones ✅ Are you a #gtmfounder looking for an early stage hire that won't waste your time with lazy #salesinterview discovery? What your reps are doing today vs what they should be doing Most SDRs spend the majority of their day on tasks that don’t directly create opportunities. Building and validating account lists Cross-checking every name against ICP criteria.
