We received our federal trust bank charter from the OCC, and a limited purpose trust charter from NYDFS, enhancing the bedrock of our operations. The Arc blockchain is launching on September 16th with an unmatched cohort of leading financial institutions joining Circle as network validators. And we are building the infrastructure for the agentic economy, positioning Circle at the center of how value will move in an AI-driven world. So either: 1. There is something structurally different about AI (or maybe NVIDIA is just a different beast from the chip companies of yesteryear in its ambitions and centrality to the whole thing) OR 2. It’s just a matter of time before profits flow up the value chain to the app layer.

The new space reflects that growth and sets us up for what's next. It's spacious, modern, and designed to be a place where our teams can come together. You can definitely see that it's built for collaboration, from how the space flows to the little details that make a difference in our day-to-day work. It's important to us to have hubs that match the caliber of our teams, and I'm excited to be in a space that does exactly that. It's already a place where people want to be. A huge thank you to everyone who invested time and energy into building this from scratch. You can see the care that went into every decision.

Nikhil Chandhok liked thisNikhil Chandhok liked thisMy KOREA BLOCKCHAIN WEEK kicked off yesterday in Seoul at Upbit. ‘s institutional summit. Trevor Traina and I had a wide-ranging conversation with Jacquelyn Melinek about agentic commerce, agent personhood, liability and risk in the agentic age, and a whole lot more. (We missed you, Will Papper!) Some of my thoughts: 1) we’re still at a very early stage, where most agents (in the financial space) are operating within closed loop financial workflows. This looks like fairly familiar automation, but it’s very different from what‘s coming. - Once we move to events-driven (v request-driven) agentic activation, it’ll be a whole new ballgame, especially in terms of oversight. - Btw, if agents aren’t causing you to think about oracles and smart contracts differently, you may want to question your priors about those categories, conceptually. 2) stablecoins are just one piece of all of this, not an entire payments network. You still need an identity layer, compliance, fiat conversion ramps, auth, etc. But they sure are a critical piece, and the promulgation of GENIUS act regulations (which are close!) will help turn these into jet fuel for the digital economy. 3) I am thinking A LOT about liability and agentic personhood. I think it’s just a matter of time until someone tries to limit liability by dropping a “manager agent” into something like a sub/LLC, and it’s a small step from there to imagining fictitious personhood for the agent itself. - Our tendency to anthropomorphize AI makes this slope even more slippery. 4) I think the question of where the human is (in/on loop, etc) is not the full question: this is fundamentally a principal/agent problem. So: - who is the principal? - Which of that principal’s agents is the relevant one(s)? - What was the agent authorized to do? - Can we audit that activity? Most people still default to imagining a 1-1 situation with each principal having one agent, but the reality is 1-n and therefore n-n, especially when you realize that most even moderately sophisticated systems already have an agentic stack with agents managing agents. 5) crypto policy seems to be almost completely asleep on AI policy, and I find the idea that they’re distinct, especially around things like the BRCA and developer protections, extremely short-sighted. - As I said to someone at dinner, I understand why people are so eager to run the BRCA, which sits at the one yard line, into the end zone. But all I keep thinking is “sirs, you are playing football, but this is an ice rink.” Imagining that developer protections in crypto may not be absolutely obliterated by developer liabilities in AI is naive at best. Anyway, I’ve been pretty obsessed with agentic AI for the past 18 months, which is why I’m so excited about Proof of Control and open verifiability, championed by the Advanced AI Society in partnership with The Linux Foundation! The “Big Ideas and the Agentic Economy” panel with Cathie Wood, Nikhil Chandhok, Emad Mostaque and Peter H. Diamandis got me thinking about how society and our economy might change as AI agents become economic actors in their own right. That future feels like it’s racing towards us. 🦞 🦞 🦞 🚀 I think it was Nikhil who brought up DAOs. Remember those? They were all the rage in some crypto circles a few years ago, but I hardly hear about them these days. The connection to AI agents struck me as spot on. 🎯 So I wanted to put a few thoughts down on why crypto’s infra for identity, payments, contracts and governance could turn out to be so well suited to an agent-driven economy.. and what happens when agents start forming organizations of their own! Curious to hear your reactions and feedback, as always. 🙇♂️

The stablecoin itself stays liquid and usable for payments, while the yield lives in a separate, tokenized fund structure backing it.
