We were honored to hear from an exceptional lineup of speakers: 🎤 Erwan Menard from Crusoe shared an overview of the AI landscape and his perspective on AI infrastructure 🎤 Varun Randery from Poolside explored why the boundaries between model, harness, and user interface are dissolving, and how that reshapes how we build apps 🎤 Anton Semenkin from JetBrains revealed how their model, Mellum, aims to deliver better quality-per-latency than today’s SLMs (Small Language Models) 🎤 David Novotný from SpAItial AI impressed the audience with a live demo, showing us their frontier model, Echo, in action. Deva Santiago liked thisDeva Santiago liked thisWe welcomed 115 future mountaineers to our San Francisco office for our annual Bring Your Kids to Work Day festivities — a day filled with creativity, curiosity, and hands-on learning. From LEGO building, face painting, STEM kits, friendship bracelets, woodcrafts, and an AI sketchbot to ping pong and Nintendo Switch free play, there was something for every age to explore. At our AI Playground, kids as young as five designed robots, imagined futuristic factories and brought their biggest ideas to life. 🤖 Meanwhile, kids and teens 12+ stepped into the tech world through hands-on workshops that challenged them to think like product developers and sales teams. They connected with Crusoe's summer interns for advice on making the most of high school, sharpened their job-hunting skills with our Recruiting and TA teams, and even got an introduction to cloud computing by Staff Solutions Engineer Martin Cala. We wrapped up the day with an ice cream party. 🍦 A huge thank you to our San Francisco team and their families for making this year's Bring Your Kids to Work Day such a memorable celebration. Special thanks to Crusoe VP of Talent Deva Santiago for hosting the morning AMA and to our Regional Workplace Manager Mina Azim and Workplace Intern Skyler Duffield for organizing this incredible day.

Deva Santiago liked thisDeva Santiago liked thisI came to Crusoe thinking the hardest part about AI infrastructure was understanding it. It turned out the hardest part was telling its story. AI infrastructure is dense, fast-moving, and hard to explain. But as I reflect on my 12 weeks here at Crusoe as a Product Marketing intern, I realized the real challenge was never understanding the tech itself. It was telling the story of the tech: how to meet people where they are, how to earn someone's attention, and how to empathetically explain difficult concepts. As I wrap up my time here, I'm taking with me not just a field I find fascinating, but a skill I want to keep developing: storytelling in tech. Even the best technology can go unnoticed if no one understands why it matters, and learning to close that gap has been one of the most valuable parts of this internship. This is a skill I'm still building. But I know who gave me a head start: - To Hailie Meehan and Jess Goldberg, thank you for your mentorship and for always encouraging me to be confident. - To Kathleen Merto, thank you for building such a meaningful internship program. - To Lily Panabaker, my fellow intern, thank you for bringing such positive energy every single day. - To the entire product marketing team, thank you for trusting me with real work and showing me how it's done.

I studied history at college, worked for years in non profit and philanthropy, made a hard-pivot to executive search, and after a stint at a high-growth tech company, eight years ago I landed at a venture fund. I didn’t know it at the time, but an excellent public education and a History degree from UCLA established a strong foundation for future success. I combined that with naive determination, insatiable curiosity, hard work, and the extraordinary power of both strong- and weak-ties. It was such a privilege, and quite emotional tbh, to share my story in the commencement address to the 2026 graduates of the UCLA Meyer and Renee Luskin Department of History My message focused on how to meet an ever-changing world and the ways that successful people navigate chaos. History majors are experts in the study of change and chaos over time; they are extremely well-equipped to meet this moment. The bright light of UCLA first drew me to the west coast many years ago. That light burns even brighter today, and I am certain the light of this class will propel them to make an extremely positive impact on the world. Buckle up, Class of 2026 . Do the work, find your Jeff, and most importantly, Be the Candle 🕯️.
