David Newman reacted on thisDavid Newman reacted on thisExcited to share that I joined the International Rescue Committee this past month and will be working as a Health Caseworker! Through this role, I have been helping refugees and clients of the organization navigate healthcare systems as they resettle in the United States. This opportunity is incredibly meaningful to me and the exact kind of impact I hoped to create while studying Public Health. While I was in undergrad, people would often ask me what my dream job in public health was, and my answer was always the same: to help refugee and immigrant communities access healthcare. I am incredibly humbled and grateful to now be in a role where I get to do exactly that. The IRC does some of the most important work in welcoming refugees and providing them with essential services such as healthcare, benefits, housing, and more; and I am honored to be a part of that mission. As someone who hopes to pursue immigration law, I can’t think of a better place to learn from and serve communities navigating the challenges of building a new life. I’m excited for all that this role has to teach me and for the opportunity to make a meaningful difference along the way. This milestone also wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible people who supported me throughout this journey. Thank you to my family, friends, mentors, professors, supervisors, and my new team at the IRC for your encouragement, guidance, and belief in me. Job searching can be a long and uncertain process, and I am so grateful to have had such a strong support system every step of the way. I know the experiences and relationships I build in this role will shape the kind of immigration lawyer I hope to become.

David Newman reacted on thisDavid Newman reacted on thisTen years at eBay today! I still remember walking in to the office on day one being incredibly excited. I had no idea I’d blink and somehow be writing this a decade later. Looking back, I’ve realized there are four reasons I’ve never run out of things to be excited about. 1. The mission. eBay isn’t just a marketplace. It’s millions of people building businesses, earning incomes, finding that one impossible-to-find item, and connecting with customers all over the world. Getting to play even a tiny part in that is pretty special. 2. The people. I’ve worked with some of the smartest, kindest, most generous humans I know. The mentors, teammates, and lifelong friends I’ve met here have shaped not just my career, but who I am outside of work too. 3. The culture. I’ve always believed people do their best work when they feel they belong. eBay doesn’t just talk about that - it lives it. Being part of creating spaces where people are celebrated for exactly who they are has easily been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey. 4. The impact. The scale of what we get to work on still blows my mind. Every day, we make decisions that affect millions of buyers and sellers across the globe. It is equal parts exciting, humbling, and sobering. Ten years flew by. I’ve learned more than I ever expected, laughed more than any job should probably allow, and somehow still find myself excited about what’s next.

On May 20th, I had the privilege of accepting this award on behalf of the San Diego Padres. Petco Park is more than just a ballpark. It’s a place where a franchise record 3.4M fans attended Padres baseball games. Making Petco Park one of the loudest, most energetic ballparks in the country. There are also over 250 other events at Petco Park, events like concerts, music festivals, rodeo, WWE, Lexus Links and high school baseball games to name a few. It’s a place where our binational region comes together nightly in a joyous and very special way. A place where everyone feels welcomed and there is something for everyone. Seeing the vision of our CEO, Erik Greupner, the commitment of our ownership group, the hard work of our entire staff, the creativity and trust of our partners and most importantly the passion of our fans recognized on a national stage by experts in our industry is incredibly meaningful. I am grateful to be part of an organization that strives for continuous improvement, innovation and elevating the fan experience. Thank you again to Sports Business Journal for all you do for our industry and for this honor.

David Newman reacted on thisDavid Newman reacted on thisI'm excited to share that I’ve joined AiPrise as Head of Product. Identity verification and compliance are some of the most critical and underbuilt layers of the global economy. Every onboarding flow and cross-border transaction depends on getting this right, yet legacy systems still create friction for legitimate users and leave gaps for fraud. This is a problem I’ve worked on earlier in my career, and one I’m glad to return to, especially at a time when AI is fundamentally reshaping what’s possible. We’re moving from static, rules based systems to adaptive, intelligent infrastructure that can operate at global scale. AiPrise is building an AI-powered global compliance platform with coverage across 200+ countries, bringing structure and consistency to what has traditionally been a fragmented compliance stack. I'm looking forward to building with Rushabh M. Shah and Chaitanya Sarda and the rest of the team. If you’re working on identity, compliance, or fraud, would love to connect. https://www.aiprise.com/AiPrise - Verify businesses and individuals globally.AiPrise - Verify businesses and individuals globally.

David Newman reacted on thisDavid Newman reacted on thisI wanted to share a personal update with my network. Recently, I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma following an unexpected health episode that resulted in a two week hospital stay. I’m now back home and focused on recovery. My mobility is improving and I’ll be starting chemotherapy soon as part of the next phase of my ongoing treatment plan. What’s become very clear through all of this is how strong our support system is. Kiersten Davis and I are incredibly grateful for the care team guiding us forward and for the family, friends, and colleagues who have already shown up in big ways. On May 2nd, we’re doing the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation walk in San Francisco to raise money for research, better treatments, and a future where diagnoses like this are a lot less terrifying than they are right now. After a long stretch of limited mobility, being able to walk in it will be a huge milestone. If you’d like to support us, donate, walk with us, or share the fundraiser, it would mean a lot. Truly. We’re very new to this and very overwhelmed, but also very lucky, and very loved. https://lnkd.in/g2z3dRYS Funds go toward research and treatments that people with multiple myeloma rely on to manage the disease and maintain full, high-quality lives. Thank you for being in our corner ❤️

David Newman reacted on thisDavid Newman reacted on thisFive years at eBay 🎉 *Sharing just a small sample of merch from along the way* Over that time, I’ve had the chance to work across a wide range of projects supporting both our C2C and B2C sellers, including simplifying mobile listing, navigating 1099-K and tax regulations, and supporting growth for our larger sellers. Recently, I made the move to the eBay Live team, where I’ll be focused on scaling seller enablement on the product operations side. Excited to jump in and help sellers unlock new ways to connect, engage, and sell on eBay!

2025 has been a real turnaround year for us at COUNT AI. New product releases. Stronger market outreach. Hard decisions, meaningful wins, and plenty of learning along the way. One moment that stood out this year was seeing repeat customers power their entire factories using Knit-I. That kind of trust only comes when systems work reliably, day after day, in real production environments. Building and scaling a bootstrapped deep-tech company has been demanding, humbling, and deeply energising. One reflection I’m carrying into 2026: we underestimated how much well-designed systems and organised operations compound over time. Getting these right earlier would have accelerated many things. Putting stronger structure in place now is already changing how we scale. It’s exciting to see more deep-tech companies emerging from India and across the world. The talent and ambition are clearly here — pairing them with disciplined execution and strong systems can unlock outsized impact. Curious to hear from founders and operators here: what system or operational change made the biggest difference as you scaled? Wishing everyone a powerful year ahead — full of learning, momentum, and breakthroughs.

At Walmart, cashiers aren’t disappearing. They’re being repurposed. Guild CEO Bijal Shah sees this playing out across the frontline economy. AI automates the routine. Humans shift to higher-context roles, like solution selling on the floor, not scanning. Her prediction: AI will reshape frontline jobs, but it won’t replace them, especially not in places like Walgreens, JP Morgan Chase, Hilton, and PepsiCo, where Guild is already helping workers make that transition. AI will change jobs. The challenge is building training systems that help people grow at the pace the work evolves. Link to Q&A in the comments 👇

D2C disrupted retail. D2A (Direct to Agent) will disrupt everything else. Remember when D2C brands like Warby Parker skipped retailers and went straight to consumers? I think we are about to see the same shift with AI agents. A handful of companies—ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Meta, Perplexity—will own the consumer agent interface. That's where people will spend their time. That's where purchasing decisions will be made. There will be a new breed of brands that skip building beautiful websites and Instagram campaigns. Instead, they'll obsess over how well agents can understand and recommend their products. Just like D2C, the spoils will go to those who move first. D2A won't replace B2B or D2C—but it will create a new category of company optimized purely for agent recommendation. The race to build "brand" inside an AI's intelligence is on! https://lnkd.in/e25CVphy

Had a nice discussion with Allie Garfinkle from Fortune yesterday (thanks Allie!). TL;dr - while #VCfunding for pure #ecommerce is clearly down (#D2C pullback, trade wars, etc.), #AI for #commerceinfrastructure is looking strong. The consumer ecosystem has always been an early adopter of technology. And the solutions that work in retail are often able to serve other verticals with large audiences (financial services, media, home services, etc.). Success in the large enterprise is especially transferable. That's what we're seeing across categories, from Auxia to Lyric. And it's a big part of our newest investment (announcing soon!) https://lnkd.in/gBxH_atC

Mark William Lewis from Netalico Commerce lays out the case clearly: Agentic Commerce isn’t a 2027 problem—it’s a 2026 priority. Product data is now the front door for AI discovery, not a backend hygiene task. I couldn’t agree more and why fabric built Product Agent. Great post, Mark.

Excited for the Fireside Chat with Aaron Conant at the The Inspired Home Show on March 10 in Chicago. The industry is just beginning to feel the real impact of applied #AI on their business models, workflows, KPIs... everything! Over the past 3+ years, we’ve been in the trenches experimenting, failing, learning, and building AI into how growth actually happens at #NetElixir and more importantly into how our clients win. Looking forward to an honest conversation about what’s working, what’s not, and what leaders should be thinking about next. Emily J. Nelson Rob Graham BWG Connect
