Kevin Hartz reposted thisKevin Hartz reposted thisIn 14 days, Eventbrite's ticket revenue went from processing billions of dollars to negative. That was the moment Kevin Hartz and Julia Hartz feared might end the company they had built together as husband and wife. They took it public in 2018, weathered that crisis, and this year sold Eventbrite to Bending Spoons for roughly $500 million. William Salvi sits down with both of them to talk about what it is like to build a company with your spouse, the realities of going public, and more. Kevin Hartz shared thisWe've been following Joon Sung Park's research since before he started Simile. Just over a year since we co-led their seed, we are tripling down in the Series B. Simile is building a foundation model of human behavior, with the goal of accurately simulating all eight billion people on Earth. In the five months since their launch, they've already run tens of millions of simulations to help Fortune 500 companies make better decisions. More on our partnership with Simile here: https://lnkd.in/gERp9D2ZKevin Hartz shared thisFive months ago, we launched Simile with the belief that simulation would become a new way for the world to make decisions. Today, that belief feels less like a thesis and more like the beginning of a new category. I’m excited to share that Simile has raised over $200M, led by Greenoaks, with continued support from Index Ventures, Hanabi Capital, A*, Bain Capital Ventures (BCV), CVS Health Ventures, and Definition. This company is what it is because of the people who are building it. In just five months, we have increased revenue five times, developed a new foundation model for human behavior, conducted tens of millions of simulations for Fortune 100 organizations, and gained the trust of customers like CVS Health, Wealthfront, Deloitte, and Gallup. We're just getting started, and hiring across engineering, research, and product. Come build with us: https://lnkd.in/g2S8m5R6.

Kevin Hartz shared thisOur biggest investment ever at A*. Excited to back Travis Kalanick, Anthony Levandowski, Gautam Gupta, and the team at Atoms.Kevin Hartz shared thisToday, we're announcing a $1.7B equity investment in Atoms, led by Andreessen Horowitz. As part of this round, our operating businesses have merged into one Atoms equity structure. At Atoms, we’re on a mission to build physical automation to transform industry and move the world. If you look around, everything is grown or mined, manufactured and moved. That is industry - the large-scale, organized production of the things civilization runs on. Mining, construction, heavy transport, food production. Trillion-dollar sectors that have gone barely a generation without a genuine technological transformation. That is about to change. The impetus is Industrial AI - systems of software, sensors, robotics, and AI that automate the operations of entire industrial sectors. Industrial AI is what will power the next industrial revolution. Atoms is the OEM for atoms-based computers across the industries that move the physical world: - Atoms Food - infrastructure for better food. - Atoms Mining - more productive mines to power earth’s industries. - Atoms Transport - wheelbase for robots. For eight years, we've been building quietly. This round is fuel for the next phase - more machines, more deployments, more of the hardest problems in the physical world attacked at once. This is going to take builders with vision, grit, systems thinking, resilience, and a fighting spirit. Nature is going to throw everything it has at the builders in this new industrial age and it’s going to take humanity’s strongest to stay the course and get these complex systems and industries over the finish line. Thank you to Andreessen Horowitz and our capital partners for backing the progress machines we build to power this next industrial revolution. If you’re looking for a challenge, come join the team. Kevin Hartz shared thisGreat demo!Kevin Hartz shared thisA little over a month ago, I got to showcase the power of Microsoft Foundry + Agent 365 in Satya Nadella's Microsoft Build 2026 keynote. I demonstrated how Foundry transforms a local agent into a production-ready service: one that continuously learns, is grounded in your enterprise data, works alongside your team in M365 Copilot and Teams, and is governed through Agent 365. When I walked off stage, parts of that story were still in preview. Today, every core capability behind it is 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞: ✅ Hosted agents in Foundry Agent Service — with tracing and evaluations ✅ Foundry Toolboxes + Foundry IQ ✅ Publishing Foundry agents to Microsoft 365 Copilot and Teams ✅ Microsoft Agent 365 — observe, govern, and secure your agent fleet Huge shout out to the Foundry and Agent 365 teams, it was an honor to share what we built together! Kevin Hartz shared thisWe met Aryo Patel and Tinah Hong when Andera was two months old. They’d already spoken with 150+ auditors and were obsessed with rebuilding a category most people overlook. Two weeks later, we led their seed. We’re excited to double down in their $37M Series A led by Lightspeed. Andera is bringing the advances we’ve seen with coding agents to auditors, taking on the repetitive work so people can focus on judgment. Kevin Hartz reposted thisKevin Hartz reposted thisToday we’re announcing our Series C fundraise of $400M at a $3.8B valuation. The round was led by Index Ventures alongside Kleiner Perkins, Sequoia Capital, and DIMENSION. They're joined by new investors Bain Capital Ventures (BCV), Battery Ventures, Baillie Gifford, BDT & MSD Partners, Sapphire Ventures, avra, and other notable firms. Existing investors Thrive Capital, OpenAI, Oak HC/FT, Menlo Ventures, General Catalyst, Glade Brook Capital Partners LLC, Avenir, Lachy Groom and Yosemite also joined the round. We started Chai two years ago to build a world where new medicines are not found through trial and error, but designed with the precision, speed and scale of modern engineering. Deployment is the defining benchmark in AI-driven drug discovery. Today Chai’s models are at work where they matter most: inside the real-world workflows that ultimately shape the medicines of tomorrow. Leading global pharmaceutical organizations, including Eli Lilly and Company, Pfizer and Novartis, are using our generative design suite - including our latest model, Chai-3 - to pursue critical targets that traditional computational and laboratory discovery methods have long struggled to reach. We expect the models to continue improving, so we're fortunate to partner with investors who share our conviction in the long-term opportunity ahead, and who bring the experience to help us scale what we're building.

About to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Of the company and the marriage. They had a busy year in 2006. The lesson they wish they knew at 22? Kevin says sleep is the only known superpower humans have. Founders should treat themselves like pro athletes. The way the big leagues do when they put real money into their teams. Julia says outsource your non-core competencies. You're a founder. You want to specialize. Put as much time as you can toward your value. You shouldn't do your laundry. You shouldn't go grocery shopping. Outsource all of it, so you can maximize your time. The lesson they learned the hard way? Everybody just wants to be loved. It changed how they hired. There is no engineer too prickly to not want to be loved. To not need a proverbial hug. Humans are united around one central need. To feel loved. Their take on profitability, when most founders just raise and burn? A wise person once told them, on a walk and talk, right here, always keep an emergency red button to get to profitability fast. They don't know if that person was an oracle. But it was about a year before COVID hit. Deathbed at 100. The message they'd leave behind: "I love Kevin." "I love Julia."

In 2002, Elon moved into a warehouse in El Segundo and proved Americans could still build the impossible. A new generation of companies was born from that building. They're still being built here today. The Gundo has built out a culture of founders working on the hardest problems in the real world. The kind of work that pushes our country forward. I sat down with Steve Jang of Kindred Ventures on Venture Signals Live, and he named a shift almost nobody is measuring yet. Seed-stage venture-backed startups are down. But building is up. Way up. Think about your own friends. They are spinning up products on Claude Code, Lovable, Perplexity. It is not venture-backed. But it feels like a startup. People are learning to supervise coding agents and shipping fast. This is what the start of a shift looks like before anyone agrees it is one. Produced by AI Insiders. Kevin Hartz liked thisKevin Hartz liked thisBuilding a company is one thing. Walking away from it is another. After meeting, falling in love, and launching Eventbrite together (along with co-founder Renaud Visage) in 2006, Julia Hartz and Kevin Hartz officially closed the chapter on the ticketing platform they spent two decades building when it was acquired by Bending Spoons late last year. Julia described the transition as a "process of mourning," saying it meant letting go of not just a business, but a community, mission, and purpose that had defined much of her adult life. Now, the couple is embracing the unknown. Julia says she's enjoying time with loved ones, experimenting with AI-powered side projects, and resisting the temptation to believe every success can simply be recreated. Both founders also reflected on Eventbrite's original mission of using tech to bring people together in real life, a need they believe is just as essential today as it was 20 years ago. Kevin Hartz liked thisKevin Hartz liked thisMost critics of Flock change their mind once they understand what the technology does. A Flock LPR focuses on cars and reads license plates. It holds that data for 30 days, unless local legislation dictates something longer or shorter, and then it's deleted. It doesn't recognize faces. It doesn't know who's driving. People rightfully have questions about who owns the data and who has access to it. The customer owns the data, and only the customer can decide who has access to it - some collaborate with other police departments and others choose not to. All of this is highly configurable locally. Accountability is paramount, and every action in Flock is stored in an audit log. Unfortunately there are cases where officers have made bad decisions and broken the law, and that is unacceptable. That is a problem that isn’t reserved to LPR. However, as a result of our ever expanding audit tools, there have been recent prosecutions, proving that it is working. Detecting and then holding people accountable for abuse is by design. LPR solves an incredible amount of serious, time-sensitive crimes, and Flock supported over 1M of those last year. When people get the facts on how Flock ALPR works, the conversation changes. I’ve had hundreds of those conversations. The outcome is almost always the same: "This makes sense. I want my kids to be safe.”

Two weeks ago on Swimming with Allocators, we sat down with David Clark, CIO at VenCap, to talk about what decades of venture data can teach allocators. One takeaway that stood out: discounts don’t matter as much as people think in venture secondaries. Because venture is such a power-law asset class, outcomes are driven by exposure to a few massive winners. Whether a stake is bought at a small discount, or even a premium, often matters far less than the quality of the underlying company and its upside. Great conversation on venture returns, manager selection, and the nuances of how allocators should think about secondary investments. 👇 Link in the comments.

Seed-stage fundraising requires differentiation. Grind Ventures found it at the intersection of three underserved markets Technology transfer from universities creates early-stage opportunities that most VCs miss. Defense and federal marketplace applications provide revenue visibility. Critical infrastructure sectors offer commercial scale. Focused Thesis - Dual-use technologies serving defense and 16 critical infrastructure sectors Technology Transfer - University research teams1-5 years old at $1-3M valuations Revenue Clarity - Federal marketplace provides structured procurement pathways Commercial Scale - Critical infrastructure sectors offer massive addressable markets Geographic Focus - US-based companies with clear domestic advantages Stage Discipline - Seed investments with defined entry points and milestones The market rewards problem-obsessed founders with healthy margins and cash flow visibility. Dual-use technology delivers both. Which of these thesis elements resonates most with your investment approach? #VC #GrindVentures #ThoughtLeadership

We expect NTAP to continue to be a leader in the all flash market. While the overall external storage market is only expected to grow 4% yoy in 2025, there were pockets of faster growth in certain media types (all flash +16% year-over-year) and data storage types (file +6%). Looking into 2026, IDC forecasts external storage to accelerate to +8% year-over-year growth lead by continued momentum in all flash (+13% yoy) and a recovery in block storage (+11% yoy). As a mature player with stable market share, we expect NTAP's top line to grow largely in-line with the industry in 2026 (+7% year-over-year growth in C2026, GSe).

Sustained ~252–291 GiB/s of HBM memory throughput on H100s under decode load — essentially hitting the hardware roofline. This matters because HBM throughput, not FLOPs, is the real bottleneck in LLM inference. By keeping memory nearly fully saturated, I’ve unlocked far higher efficiency and throughput than standard engines. The result: 0.9–1.36M tokens/sec with ~0.1 ms first-token latency #AI #LLM #GPURouter #H100 #Inference #CostEfficiency #Innovation #DeepLearning #AIInfrastructure #HighPerformanceComputing NVIDIA AMD OpenAI Google Shilpa Kolhatkar Keith Strier a16z speedrun

🚨NEW EPISODE: Recorded live at FUTURE TITANS 2026 - Jeff Perry of Carta sat down with the iconic Seth Levine, co-founder of Foundry. Seth has been in venture for 25 years, built Foundry from scratch as an emerging manager himself, and has backed about 50 emerging manager funds through his fund of funds. He has genuinely seen every side of this table. They went deep on building Foundry, why VCs are in the influence business, not the decision business, and why the concentration problem in venture is not only bad for LPs, but also for the innovation ecosystem overall. And why Seth's new book, Capital Evolution, is so important for the future of America. 🎧 Links to listen... Apple: https://lnkd.in/ehQUQ2EM Spotify: https://lnkd.in/eU4FExpg
