Helen Vaid posted thisLast summer when I started talking to #Prosus about taking on the most entrepreneurial role of my career I thought I knew what I was saying yes to but here’s what I since discovered I had worked for fast paced companies but at Prosus pace is something else. Entrepreneurship is possible in organization of any size because being entrepreneurial has nothing to do with the size of an organization but all about culture - it’s how everyone shows up in your company from the top to the bottom - and Prosus is an amazing place to experiment and learn both 0-1 and 1-100. Building technology requires you to have a rookie mindset and try things you have never done before - we call them “jet skis” at Prosus. A month into my time Fabricio Bloisi gave me the challenge to do a jet ski on #lifetsyleassistants and truth is that has been one of the most incredibly rewarding learning experiences and we have such a long way still to go both to build and invest in companies building innovative ideas and changing the way the customers interact with our brands. Excited to build not just our investments in Zapia AI Luzia Equal AI Assistant BeConfident Lastro but also the amazing work being done by our portfolio companies and AI team - Toqi, Ailo at iFood , Sofia Despegar , Personal Shopper @Just Eat Takeaway, iZi @eMAG , Kolai @iyzico, AutoIQ OLX and ToqanClaw: The future is here. The truth is that the only moat anyone of these ideas has is “momentum” so we are going all in with speed and urgency and I couldn’t be more excited to work with the most incredible teams in Europe and LatAm and India to change the way customers live their lives. And that’s not hope that’s a promise. Let’s gooooooo!!!!! Watch the space!

Helen Vaid shared thisHas AI changed the way we learn, work, and live? Yes, it has, and the change is already here and visible—not just at the workplace but also in schools and in how our children are learning and engaging with information. For me, this came to life as I spoke to my 15-year-old son today about how he studies and what has changed for him. And the answer surprised me—no, it wasn't what I expected. He does not use ChatGPT to do his homework or write essays; in his mind, ChatGPT is not a great writer, original thinker, or funny :-). What AI helps him with is learning more effectively—he uses NotebookLM to create podcasts from his review notes and multiple sources of information so he can listen to them and query the information before his tests and exams. He built an app on Replit for his school's Finance Club so that all the kids could discover and learn about Finance, especially topics that interest teenagers, by gamifying the fundamentals of Finance—check it out here: https://lnkd.in/gYHax9b3. He uses Gemini and Gemini Live for in-depth research into the materials he wants to understand better. The world we live in has already changed for the next generation. We have to embrace it, too. Before you know it, these kids will have AI agents handling all their mundane tasks so they can create true value even sooner and use their spare time well... I am so excited for our future....bring it on!!! #AIforbetter #nextgenkids #bykidsforkids #AIforall PS: Please share the URL for his app with your children, or you can try it too—it's open to everyone—and give him feedback. I know he will love that. I am so hopeful for the next generation of learners and what they will do with all the new capabilities at their fingertips.

Helen Vaid shared thisSo folks it happened - we summitted Mt. Kilimanjaro last week - dream of a lifetime for me and one I did with friends and a new found tribe. Was it hard - hell yeah the hardest thing I have done in a long time very long time but the most life altering too. My reflections - - “Pole Pole” - words we heard a lot as we walked - meaning slowly slowly and that’s true for life and career - consistent and steady actions do work out for tough journeys managing ourselves through the tough challenges requires consistent, thoughtful and steady effort and not giving up. - Journey and the Summit - the journey was as important as reaching the summit for me as we navigated the climate zones it reminded me that we all have our rainforests, moorlands, deserts and glaciers to cross what matters is how we manage each of these environments and who we share these moments with. - Find your tribe - doing the climb with friends who supported me through the good and the tough parts reminded me that we cannot do anything in this world alone. Finding one’s tribe to achieve huge goals is key. When you surround yourself with the right team even the toughest of challenges seem very doable. The porters, cooks, guides and my friends who did the climb all played a huge part in making this happen. - Energy changes everything - as we climbed and as each day passed the energy and enthusiasm mattered - how we closed the day mattered. Our guide never gave us details for the complete climb just one day at a time and always stayed positive such an incredible lesson for teams trying to achieve extraordinary goals - Don’t let perfect come in the way of Great - when I reached Stella point my blood oxygen was too low to get to uhuru but I had summitted and loved it and instead of risking and ruining that amazing feeling by not going the extra 100 mts. Yes it’s great to sometimes want to do everything perfectly but sometimes in life and work you have to decide where to stop because that can be as important as knowing when to keep going. Friends as I close this amazing week out I would love to also complete raising the funds for Malala Fund by end of next week - please contribute to this amazing cause and help make the life of so many girls better https://lnkd.in/gQeZTN3x #AMP204 #Killimanjaro #MalalaFund #summit #findyourtribe #gofundme

Helen Vaid shared thisCombining my passion with bucket list item - never thought I could do that but guess it’s possible. As I head out next week to climb Kilimanjaro I am excited and nervous at the same time but whatever the outcome I know the journey will be one filled with amazing moments of reflection and joy; exhaustion and excitement and most importantly a reminder that however hard the goal seems you can’t win if you don’t try. Like Wayne Gretzky said - “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” so I plan to take this one whatever the odds and in the process of doing so I want to raise funds for a cause very close to my heart - Education for Girls. Learning to get better everyday is something each of us deserves and girls in a lot of communities are deprived of this and if we can all help in any small way to educate even one girl we change the trajectory of her and her family’s life ….. So help me do both - support the cause to raise 10K and cheer me on as I update you all of my trek. https://lnkd.in/gQeZTN3x My promise is that I will cherish the journey as much as the goal 🙏 #educationforgirls #malalafund #bucketlistDonate to Climbing Kilimanjaro to Support Girls Education, organized by helen vaidDonate to Climbing Kilimanjaro to Support Girls Education, organized by helen vaid

Helen Vaid shared thisHave you ever wondered why some decisions result in better outcomes than others? Why is it that even when we "co-create" decisions with teams, they fail when they are executed? Is it just the "what," or does the "how" matter in decision-making? That is precisely what Karl Shaikh's research is exploring - I can't wait to read the final output... I would appreciate your help first. We need more surveys completed, so I would love my network of friends to help Karl finish his Doctorate at Case Western Reserve University. The survey takes 15-20 mins. It is thought-provoking and Karl Shaikh would be very happy to share the learnings of the final report with you.Helen Vaid shared thisCan you help me complete my survey on Collaborative Decision Making for my academic survey towards my Post Grad Studies. I need your help. ---- Have you made decisions in collaborative way. Whether on Boards, Executive Leadership Teams, Founders, or Investment Committees, Hiring Committees, product teams or other team meetings making important decisions. Perhaps in a personal context on juries, in community groups deciding what to do in your locale, or in Co-ops, HOA's or perhaps other large group contexts? My academic survey is gathering insights relating to two decisions, one decision that worked out well for you and gave great outcomes and one decision that didn't work well and gave terrible (?) outcomes (for either decision it doesn't matter if you were the team leader or team participant) Could you please answer a few questions and help me gather those insights for academic purposes towards my doctorate program? #strategy #strategicdecisionmaking #decisionmaking https://lnkd.in/gms_KBUE

The authenticity, vunerability and honesty that I was surrounded by was just beyond what words can ever do justice to. I am priviledged to be on the Advisory Board with these incredible leaders and I am energized having spent time with friends old and new. Special thanks to the incredible Jennifer DiPasquale and Melissa Campanelli who started this movement I still feel like it was yesterday when I was at the first one. 10 yrs down here's to the next 10 yrs. #womenareunstoppable #strongertogether #WIRLS What inspired me the most is that the next generation of women leaders in that room were real, confident and unapologetic about who they are. Helen Vaid shared thisA ship is always safe at shore but that is not what it's built for”. Albert Einstein Every new experience we embark on is an opportunity to learn and grow. I believe that it’s very important for us to explore opportunities that take us outside our comfort zone and push the boundaries of our learning - we succeed because of our defaults and playbooks but we always have to test the portability of our learning and constantly challenge what we think we know - that is not often straightforward or natural. As I embark on a new learning journey with Stewart I know that the incredible board of directors and management team will teach me so much and I will hopefully be able support the team in ways that will create growth and lean into the future. Helen Vaid liked thisHelen Vaid liked thisJoy & intensity can coexist ✨ It doesn't have to be mutually exclusive! Infact as author Brad Stulberg says, "having fun is the greatest competitive advantage an athlete (or anyone for that matter!) can have. And many of the greats almost do. Just look at these two Australian legends, Rose Davies & Jessica Hull, battling it out in the 5,000m format for the top spot! You can witness the fierce intensity of the competition, and see them enjoy the process as one gets past the other. 🔥 😊 Davies scripted history last night, when she became the first woman to deliver double golds across both the 10,000m and the 5,000m 🥇 🥇 Whilst Davies holds the national record for the 5,000m, she still had to get past her senior, Hull, who is a formidable figure in Australian track & field - an Olympic & World Champion medalist and the first Australian woman to qualify for a World Championships final last year! Infact, just a fortnight ago, at the London Diamond League meet, in the 3,000m race, Hull had accelerated past Davies in the final 200m, to win gold, and leave Davies with the silverware. But last evening, Davies flipped the script. They were side by side with 150m to go, and Davies switched a gear to get ahead. The experienced Hull wasn't going to be left behind and she pushed harder to erase Davies's lead with 70m to go. With 50m to go, Davies gave it all, with a smile. Her strides expanded with every single step and she eventually took gold, finishing the 5,000m run, nearly two seconds faster than her Aussie mate! Not only was the competition a joy to watch, but so was their camaraderie and the way they celebrated together at the end. May we all live most of our days in this very spirit ~ show up, compete hard, enjoy the process and the run, irrespective of the outcomes! Happy Friday 🥂

We tried it at Zapia AI and quickly found several epic growth experiments to test ASAP. We also discussed the exercise with the Lumepic team on Tuesday Try it! And ask Zapia to help you brainstorm 🚀

The article is in the first issue of Beyond Capital — my new newsletter on the learnings and insights of investing globally. But first — the people who made this week what it was: To the team that made this week what it was: Ashutosh Sharma, Apoorve Goyal, Saurav Jain, Dhruv Gupta and Soumya Chauhan — this article is yours as much as mine. Helen Vaid liked thisHelen Vaid liked thisThe most interesting AI work doesn't have to come out of Silicon Valley. Ours came from a small team in Amsterdam 🇳🇱. I want to take a moment to talk about that team because Toqan only exists because the right people cared about getting it right. They tested, pivoted, broke things, fixed them, and pushed through for three months, building Prosus’s first product from scratch. They took the core idea of what AI could do for a company and built it from the ground up: safe, secure, enterprise-ready, no-code, running on our own proprietary technology. Open it and it works. At our launch event, our CEO thanked the Toqan and Zapia teams for their work. Here's what I'd add... You can't just pick anyone for this kind of work. The people who built Toqan know exactly why they're doing it: to serve our ecosystem. User delight is key to them. They build powerful features to do their best work, always with an eye on bringing value to the #customer. #Velocity matters too - the value they put into it shows in how fast they experiment and learn. They're deep technical people who never live in a technical bubble. They stand in the shoes of someone who can't code which doesn't come naturally when you're this deep in tech. They never lose sight of who they're building for. Getting the whole team in one place at the same time is nearly impossible ... there's always someone missing. But here's a glimpse of the team building Toqan. Sean Kenny, Isha Agrawal, Bartosz Hawelka, Riccardo Bevilacqua, Andrii Myhal Tigran Mirzakhanian, Kevin Ngo, Nikolas Stavrou, Tibor Hercz Alfred Francis Asare Worae Asad Ismail Jeroen van Dijk Rob Laubscher Saunaq Chakrabarty and a few more who couldn't make it this time. We're at the very beginning of this. And I believe Europe doesn't just have to follow in AI. We can build. We can lead. And we already are. 🦞🦞🦞

Helen Vaid reacted on thisHelen Vaid reacted on thisIt was an honor to be invited to this evening's dinner recognizing Valdene Reddy's recent appointment as Group CEO of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE). This gathering marked a significant moment for several reasons: - Valdene is the third female CEO of the JSE. - The JSE celebrated 20 years since its listing on its own exchange. - The JSE is ranked among the Top 20 largest stock exchanges in the world and is the largest in Africa. - The JSE comprises over 263 listed companies with a combined market cap of R24.7 trillion. What stood out to me personally was the unity displayed by business, government, and the regulator in supporting Valdene and acknowledging the JSE's vital role in enabling our country's success in capital formation, attracting foreign investment, and driving economic growth. I was also reminded of the significant responsibility we all have as custodians of our client's capital and the impact this can have in delivering good outcomes both in terms of returns and impact. Thank you to #Naspers #Prosus #BusinessUnitySouthAfrica #BusinessLeadershipSouthAfrica for allowing #NinetyOne to be part of this milestone.

Helen Vaid liked thisHelen Vaid liked this"You're my go-to person for finding people." I've heard this dozens of times at Prosus, and I always thought it was just... how I work. I'm a treasury analyst. Numbers, cash positions, counterparty relationships. So when I signed up for a Design Thinking and Innovation course at Harvard Business School Online, I wanted to learn something completely different. Something outside Finance. I did it scared but I completed it. For my innovation project, I studied my own connector abilities. I interviewed colleagues about how they make connections across departments. That's when one person told me: "I ask Tamara when I need to find someone." It hit me. Valuable connection knowledge—who knows what, who shares interests, who's from the same country and looking for community—is locked in my head. It disappears when I'm on vacation or leave. So I prototyped solutions: multi-dimension profile cards and structured 5-minute onboarding buddy connections. Not fancy tech. Just systems to make what I do naturally accessible to everyone. Here's what I learned: innovation isn't always about solving external problems. Sometimes it's about studying what you're already good at and asking, How could this work without me? That's how individual superpowers become organizational capabilities. Thank you to Prosus for this learning opportunity, and to my family, friends, and colleagues for your support. What skill do you have that could work without you? #LifeAtProsus #GrowthMindset #HBSOnline

Levi Strauss is redefining what modern retail operations look like with AI. The company is integrating AI across its workflows, from frontline stores to global headquarters, to automate routine tasks, speed up decision-making, and empower teams with instant access to the information they need. AI assistants now support employees with product insights, training, and operational guidance. Internal “super-agents” streamline HR, operations, and day-to-day workflows by pulling answers and actions into a single conversational interface. On the consumer side, AI powers smarter recommendations and personalized outfitting experiences. The result? 1. Faster execution 2. Better customer experiences 3. Stronger employee productivity 4. A true DTC-first, data-driven operating model Levi’s shows what happens when a legacy brand embraces AI not as a tool — but as a core capability for the future.
