Kyle Emile shared thisHappy birthday to mom 💜 As someone raised in a single-mother household, all I’ve ever known is the power of a woman's leadership, resilience, and thoughtfulness. This has continued throughout my career as I’ve had the privilege of working for incredible leaders like Elynda Bedney, Lynanne Kunkel, Tamara Patrick, Tammy Bohen, Claire Gunter, CMAA, Emily Hannan, Katherine Shappley, Christine Warner, Claire Choi, and Arielle Argyres. I’m grateful for these role models who’ve challenged me, believed in me, and empowered me to grow. As we celebrate Women's History Month, I want to extend my sincerest appreciation to the amazing leaders who have shaped me into the person I am today. Especially mom, you’re the GOAT 🐐

Kyle Emile posted thisToday my talented coworkers and friends at Meta were impacted by layoffs. To those impacted, please message me directly if I can help. I'm happy to make any intro and/or be a sounding board. I'm still grateful for the support I received when I was impacted by 2020 COVID layoffs and am happy to share what I learned from that experience. It's a rough day, but I'm confident you'll land on your feet. If you're hiring, I know many great people you'd be lucky to have. #meta #metalayoffs

Kyle Emile shared thisI met Tyler a few weeks ago via Lunchclub and had a great conversation about Free Intelligent Conversation. 🙏🏾Kyle Emile shared thisFree Intelligent Conversation I’ve mentioned Lunchclub in past posts. It’s a service that connects you with like-minded people over virtual meetings. Lunchclub does an awesome job of curating matches, giving you info about each other, and dealing with the logistics of the meeting. A couple of weeks back, I met Kyle Emile. It was a blast talking with him and learning about his journey. We both have aspirations to write a book one day, so we instantly connected. One of the things I learned about Kyle is that he has a non-profit organization with a pretty incredible mission. It’s called Free Intelligent Conversation (FreeIC), and the purpose is for strangers to talk in public and engage in productive conversations. The FreeIC mission resonates with me. As a society, it feels like we’re challenged to create meaningful, person-to-person connections. There are so many social issues with polarizing perspectives that create a divide. Too often, we’re faced with obstacles that are preventing compassion and understanding. FreeIC is trying to fix that. If you get a chance, check out FreeIC (link below). Maybe even challenge yourself to connect with a stranger today! Let me know your thoughts. Do you think we need more conversation and connection? #thinktyler #connection

Kyle Emile reacted on thisKyle Emile reacted on thisExcited to share that I'm a named inventor on a recently published U.S. patent application from my time at Dropbox. I've always loved that design gives space to imagine new possibilities—and then shape those possibilities into experiences that are useful for people. Grateful to have collaborated with Lawrence Ntim and everyone who helped bring this work to life. Proud to see it published, and looking forward to following its journey through the patent process.

As a former educator turned partnerships professional, I could not be prouder of our team's approach to building long term relationships that have direct impact on teacher and students. It's free for U.S. K-12 educators and is built the Learning Commons connector and co-developed new Agent Skills for teaching - both key elements of this launch. I'm looking forward to building out this ecosystem with folks in my network. Kyle Emile reacted on thisKyle Emile reacted on thisI’m proud to share that I’ve joined OpenAI on the Global Ads Solutions team. Five months into the launch of ads in ChatGPT, I’m not only excited to be a founding member that gets to shape the product and experience for advertisers, but also inspired by the opportunity to help bring beneficial artificial general intelligence to all of humanity. I’ve been particularly impressed at how OpenAI is carrying out this mission in the ads space while still respecting the trust and privacy that users place in ChatGPT. Ads in ChatGPT will fundamentally shift the way consumers and brands interact. As we look ahead to an AI-native future in advertising, we must be willing to test and innovate. Let’s build 🚀

Kyle Emile reacted on thisKyle Emile reacted on thisThis week marks my official first 90 days at Spotify Advertising. What a (fun) ride it's been. When you wake up energized by your business problems instead of burdened by them, you know you're in the right role. It was a big first 90 days. I accomplished every milestone on my 30/60/90 day plan, helped shape tooling and process for the entire Ads BU, traveled to Stockholm for a company-wide event with 6,300+ bandmates, and built a team and culture I am genuinely proud of (my team crushing their quota helps!) But what stands out the most is Spotify's culture. A few observations on what makes it different: 🤖 AI Innovation: Spotify has the best example of AI-first architecture I've seen at any company. Give your employees the right access, the right foundation, and the right resources and what they can build to improve their own workflows (and their team's) is endless. Companies won't win with AI by limiting context and access. 🛠️ Opportunity to build: People always refer to the "good old days" at their companies. The good old days are happening here right now. There's no shortage of scope and opportunity. Leadership is leaned in and the ideas are big. It feels like we have the resources of a mature company with the spirit and hunger of a startup. 📈 Potential: Users spend 2+ hours a day on Spotify and video consumption is increasing. We've leaned into biddable and are expanding our formats and objectives to meet advertisers where they are. The biggest misconception is that Spotify is just an audio platform. We're not. When the market catches up to what we've already built, the runway for growth really does feel endless. I've learned so much since April and feel energized and optimistic for the future. Cheers to the next 90! (P.S. Thanks Samuel Bevan & Karl Mukaz for taking a bet on me 😉)

Kyle Emile reacted on thisKyle Emile reacted on thisTwenty years ago, if you had told me that one day I would walk into a bookstore and see my own novel on the shelves, I would have laughed. I was building a career in technology. Writing books wasn't part of the plan. Last week I walked into Title Waves in Mumbai and found Shadow of the Serpent Fort — 324 BCE, ancient India — displayed in a major book store. It started because my kids fell in love with Greek mythology. I kept looking for a book that would give them the same excitement about India's own history — and couldn't find it. So I set out to write one six years ago during COVID, when we all had that extra time. An Indo-Greek adventure set in 324 BCE, the strange, little-known window after Alexander left India and before Chandragupta Maurya built his empire. Real history, with room for one fictional mystery, one fictional fort, and a few ghosts. 20 years in tech — Meta, Microsoft, Amazon. I liked that work, and I was good at it. But this has been a different kind of satisfaction. In tech you ship something and it gets folded into a roadmap, a metric, next quarter's priorities. This is the first thing I've made that just exists, on its own terms. If you like historical fiction — forgotten kingdoms, Indo-Greek history, real research with room for imagination — this one's for you. It's a crossover novel, so it works well for readers 15 and up too. Shadow of the Serpent Fort — out now on Amazon in India, US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden and Ireland. Other countries are coming soon! Kyle Emile liked thisKyle Emile liked thisNEWSFLASH 🗞️⚡️Today, I'm excited to launch The New Normal, a new video show by OutRival that Timur Meyster, John Henry, and I have been quietly building over the past few months. Timur and I previously hosted Breaking Into Startups (which reached over 3 million people), and John previously hosted Hustle on VICELAND (executive produced by Alicia Keys and Marcus Samuelsson). After spending the last few years building OutRival, we kept hearing the same thing from operators across our customer base. Every podcast about AI features founders pitching tools or investors talking about the exciting things that will happen when companies start using this technology. Almost none feature the people who actually deployed the technology and made it work. So we built it: Episode 1 is with Kermit Cook, CEO of Penn Foster Group. Kermit took over a 135-year-old distance learning company in 2024 that started teaching coal miners in Scranton, Pennsylvania in 1890. Today, Penn Foster graduates 93,000+ learners a year (if it were a school district, it would be the third largest in the country behind NYC and LAUSD), and Kermit's goal is to graduate 150,000 by 2029. We get into how to reinvent a 135-year-old company for the AI era, the economics of serving a $1,500 student profitably, the unusual journey from Dartmouth College engineering, Stanford University Graduate School of Business to KKR partner to Penn Foster CEO, how Kermit runs experiments to find what actually moves the metrics, and why every leader needs to stop treating AI as a tech project and start using it to drive real impact on enrollment, retention, growth, and learner outcomes. The confirmed cohort going forward includes President Madeline Pumariega (Miami Dade College), President Scott Pulsipher (Western Governors University), President Gregory Fowler (University of Maryland Global Campus), Chancellor David Andrews (University of Massachusetts Global), Raghu Krishnaiah (COO, University of Phoenix), Sanam Raza (CEO of OU Education Services), Elise Awwad (CEO of DeVry University), Michael Hansen (CEO of Cengage), President Lisa Marsh Ryerson (Southern New Hampshire University), President Mark David Milliron (National University), and many more. 15 episodes scheduled, 7 already recorded, with 15 to 30 more on the way across higher ed, insurance, and travel. Bi-weekly cadence starts today. Full YouTube Link is here: https://lnkd.in/ekjnPeUe Watch + subscribe: thenewnormal.fm Massive shout out to Kermit Cook, Lauren Stash, Kaytlin Butler, and the entire Penn Foster team for trusting us with Episode 1. To the BayPine team for backing Kermit and Penn Foster. To Michael Landsberg and Thomas Risavy for the production. Saif Ishoof for the introduction to Mike. To James Goodwin for the design. To Jasmine Melikyan for coordinating the launch. And to the OutRival team for making this happen. It only gets better from here. Stay tuned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kyle Emile reacted on thisKyle Emile reacted on thisSports is all the rage in Cannes this week, and I had the chance to moderate a panel on Monday with Damar Hamlin. We talk a lot data and signals to measure impact, but what stood out most was Damar’s authenticity and openness about his story and passion for his fans. He wanted to make sure we got the perfect shot for my boys at home and talked to everyone like they were the only person in the room. A great reminder: Data may be required to get you in the game, but connection and storytelling win every time. Thanks, Damar!

Kyle Emile reacted on thisKyle Emile reacted on thisToday I joined Roblox as Chief Communications Officer — and I mean it when I say I couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead. Roblox is one of the most remarkable platforms in the world. Hundreds of millions of people come to it every day not just to play, but to create, to connect, and to build things that didn’t exist before. It’s a place where imagination is the product. The opportunity to help shape how the world understands what Roblox is — and what it’s becoming — is the kind of challenge that doesn’t come around often. I’m not taking it lightly. At the same time, I’m walking away from something I love. My years at Meta were defined by meaningful work and even more meaningful people. We built teams, told stories that mattered, navigated hard moments, and came out the other side stronger. I’m leaving proud of what we did — and carrying the best of it with me. To my Meta colleagues and friends: thank you. The work gave us context, but you gave it life. That stays with me. Grateful for what was. One might argue that a democracy works best when there is meaningful productive dialogue driving the decision-making process. Great debates have been at the center of our progress and our very nature. Social change, cultural shifts, and basic ideologies have been driven by informed discussions by people with diverse, even opposing views. So then, American values are genuinely at stake when there is no avenue for conversation between diverse factions making up our complex society.
Kyle Emile’s conversation experiment reminds us that we have more in common than we might think. He has demonstrated a way to open doors between different groups of people that allow them to engage in meaningful and safe interaction. His “Free Intelligent Conversation” provides a framework that serves as a model for what we - as a free-thinking democracy - should think about.
Kyle Emile is the founder and Executive Director of the non-profit organization Free Intelligent Conversation (FreeIC). An organization that grew out of his curiosity in other people and desire for meaningful conversations.
Free Intelligent Conversation facilitates meaningful conversations between strangers by hosting events in public places where volunteers hold up signs that read “Free Intelligent Conversation” inviting people to talk about anything and everything.
Kyle’s goal is for Free Intelligent Conversation to be consistently hosting events in every city worldwide - so that when you get out of work or school and are looking to meet with people different to you, your first thought is, “Where’s my local FreeIC outing happening?”

In the San Francisco Bay Area, founders are relentless about growing and scaling their companies. They spot opportunity, scale through uncertainty, and create companies that redefine industries. Recently, we gathered a group of founders and tech leaders to discuss the intersection of company growth and long-term personal success. Eric S. Yuan, Founder and CEO of Zoom Communications, shared the inspiring story behind his company’s growth and eventual IPO. Eric reiterated that the founders who create the most impact don’t just plan for an exit – they prepare for what comes after. Too often, personal wealth planning lags company growth, and that gap can become costly at the most pivotal moments. The rest of the evening was focused on closing that gap. Our colleagues in Goldman Sachs Investment Banking, Pawan Tewari and Nick Giovanni, shared a candid outlook for M&A and IPOs in this environment, along with important steps founders should take to prepare for a strategic exit. We ended with a conversation around the key considerations for maximizing founders’ personal outcomes. Pre-transaction planning isn’t defensive - it’s opportunistic. Your company’s exit strategy and your family’s long-term planning work should not be done in isolation. When investment banking and private wealth work in sync, founders can cohesively optimize outcomes on all sides of the equation. To learn more about the practical “do’s and don'ts” for founders, we are happy to share our ‘Goldman guide’ for navigating wealth planning, business exists, and IPOs: https://lnkd.in/ewhEGjV3. Thank you, Eric, and to all the founders who joined us at The Battery in SF. On behalf of Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management and Investment Banking, we look forward to the next conversation.

Open Source has always been important to me and n8n. So I was immediately excited when Konstantin Vinogradov shared the idea of creating an Open Source Endowment to ensure that the most critical OS projects have the means they need. I advise everyone to check it out and think about donating as well.
