The rockets’ red glare — powered by American spirit. 🇺🇸 Across generations of spacecraft, from Mercury-Redstone, to the Space Shuttle, to today’s commercial partners and the Artemis program that is returning us to the Moon, each launch reflects the courage and curiosity that
Just moments following ignition, the Space Shuttle Challenger, mated to its two solid rocket boosters and an external fuel tank, soars toward a week-long mission in Earth orbit. Note the diamond shock effect in the vicinity of the three main engines. Launch occurred at 5:00 p.m. (EDT), July 29, 1985.

Spacewalks may happen in space, but they’re powered from Houston. 🧑‍🚀 Inside Mission Control at Johnson Space Center, flight controllers track every moment of a spacewalk with precision, monitoring suit performance, guiding procedures, and coordinating each step with the crew

NASA astronauts Chris Williams and Jessica Meir, both Expedition 74 flight engineers, inspect and configure a spacesuit jetpack, known as the Simplified Aid for EVA Rescue (SAFER), inside the International Space Station’s Destiny laboratory module. The jetpacks attach to the rear of spacesuits and serve as a safety mechanism that allows a spacewalker to maneuver back to the station in the unlikely event they become untethered from their worksite.
