We see more faces before breakfast than our ancestors did in a lifetime. I've been wondering what that's doing to us Wrote about how the attention economy was built around the pull of a human face; how the same digital machinery may now be devaluing it

    Courage > Craft
It is remarkable to see the number of people speaking truth to power today. Chronicling the reality of our times. Evoking in others the resolve to speak up. Speak up for those told to shut up. Because they know it could be them someday. Or even when they know it never will, but simply to preserve what it means to be human. People with so little and so much to lose are speaking truth to power, even as those with so much power and so little to lose continue to choose silence. Today, more than ever, you're humbled by the realisation that you can say the most piercing things even if you think you aren't that articulate a person. Because truth doesn't need craft. It needs courage.

Every major social media platform now gives us a built-in way to consume a piece of content through someone else’s response to it. It may be changing how we form opinions, handle disagreement, debate ✍️Wrote about the internet's reaction economy, how it started, how it's going

Not the first time I've watched a Western publication cover a subject after I, a tech reporter from the global South, have already (extensively) written about it. And it won't be the last, because I'm not going anywhere. Thanks for the western stamp on this story, @NewYorker
