
Sensex Today | Nifty 50 | Stock Market Highlights: The Indian stock market recorded a sharp recovery from intraday lows on Monday, with Sensex and Nifty closing in the green with marginal gains after crashing nearly 1% each in the morning.


Oil prices surged more than 3% after renewed military strikes between the U.S. and Iran reignited concerns over energy shipments through the Strait of Hormuz. Brent crude futures were up $2.67, or 3.51%, to $78.68 at 0743 GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude was up $2.48, or 3.47%, to $73.89 a barrel.

SEBI has imposed a two-year cooling-off period for former officials, barring them from representing clients before it in investigations, settlement proceedings and applications for fundraising or regulatory approvals, according to a government notification.
The regulator also extended investment restrictions to employees’ family members, the notification, published on Saturday, said.





Gold prices slid more than 1% on Monday as fears of a closure of the Strait of Hormuz drove oil prices sharply higher, reviving expectations of elevated interest rates to combat inflationary pressures from escalating hostilities in the Middle East.
Spot gold dropped 1.5% to $4,060.36 per ounce by 0541 GMT. U.S. gold futures for August delivery were down 1.1% at $4,068.30.

The 118-year-old Calcutta Stock Exchange (CSE) is planning a revival with a modern technology platform, upgraded trading infrastructure and a disaster recovery site. Backed by the new state government, the move will require the bourse to withdraw the voluntary exit application it filed with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) last year, according to people familiar with the matter. CSE is understood to have adequate capital to restart trading operations, although a significant portion of its funds remains locked up.
