I am trying to connect a Dell U3023E display to my PC via a DisplayPort to USB-C cable:
- The BIOS screen displays fine
- The Windows loading screen displays fine
- The display suggests there is no USB-C signal as soon as Windows loads, and goes black.
The display works with DP-DP and HDMI-HDMI cables, and, if I connect both the DP-DP cable and the DP-USBC cable to the machine, and then remove the DP-DP cable, the DP-USBC cable continues to work, but fails as soon as I restart.
I cannot dedicate either the DP or HDMI ports on the display to that machine, because I'm running three different machines on that display, and DP/HDMI are earmarked for other machines, therefore it's imperative that DP-USBC be the solution.
The monitor supports DP-USBC alt mode, so that shouldn't be an issue.
I have tried
- Updating the display firmware
- Updating the graphics card drivers
Neither of these resolve the issue.
Specs for reference
- Motherboard: ROG Strix B360-i
- Graphics: Nvidia RTX 3060Ti Founders Edition
- Display: Dell U3023E 30" 2560x1600 (16:10)
- Cable: Club3D DP-to-USBC bi-directional supporting 8K @ 60Hz (more than enough for 2560x1600)
Can anyone suggest what I might be doing wrong?
