Gustavo Burnier shared thisFairphone is closing in on 1 million phones sold and ~$500M in cumulative revenue. Left our Supervisory Board meeting, and the momentum behind these numbers is the real story: → H1 2026: phone sales +74%, Audio +39%, Accessories +115% (built on a 2025 that beat every target!) → Impact metrics tracking ahead of plan too → Fairphone Gen 6+ launched: outperforming forecast → US launch (phones + audio): demand ahead of plan, and repairability drawing huge media interest And H2 already looks very strong. Commercial success and fairness aren't a contradiction. You can build a phone people want to buy and that doesn't die in a drawer after 18 months. Congratulations to Raymond van Eck, the management team and everyone at Fairphone! #Fairphone #Sustainability #Repairability

Gustavo Burnier reposted thisGustavo Burnier reposted thisFriction – we often malign it as the antithesis of organisational productivity, but does it actually serve a valuable purpose which can lead to better outcomes? This idea of “friction by design”, was one of the key takeaways from my conversation with Gustavo Burnier during our latest episode of BTA Bytes, where we discussed cognitive surrender and AI. The term Cognitive Surrender was introduced by Professor Gideon Nave and Steven Shaw at the Wharton School in research examining what happens to human reasoning when AI becomes part of the decision-making process. They found that when people consulted AI they would often adopt its answer with minimal scrutiny. When the AI was deliberately wrong, participants still followed its answer around 80% of the time. And under time pressure, such as a deadline, participants became less likely to challenge and correct an incorrect AI answer. For society and organisations, this creates multiple risks, be that decisions based upon factually incorrect information, through to the broader question of what happens to innovation and creativity if people outsource the thinking to a system that specialises in recombinant innovation. AI may be brilliant but the challenge, as Gustavo outlines, is to introduce just enough friction at the right points to keep critical thinking in the process and build the muscle memory to challenge, verify and apply judgement. You can hear the full conversation with Gustavo in the latest episode of BTA Bytes from BEHIND THE ALGORITHM, now available on YouTube, Apple Podcasts and Spotify. #ArtificialIntelligence #CriticalThinking #FutureOfWork #BTABYTES

Gustavo Burnier shared this25 points above baseline with accurate AI. 15 points below with AI that's wrong half the time. That's a 40-point swing. And it has nothing to do with the AI's accuracy. It has to do with whether people bothered to challenge what AI said. I dug into this failure mode — known as Cognitive Surrender — on this week's BTA BYTES. If your team treats AI output as ground truth, watch this one. Wilton Pinheiro Lima Neto This reminds me of our conversation about the wrong product pricing, availability, etc. Remy Reurling and our conversation about Adversarial Networks.Gustavo Burnier shared this⚠️ When Wrong AI Makes You Worse In our latest episode of BTA BYTES by BEHIND THE ALGORITHM, Gustavo Burnier shares research in which people using accurate AI scored 25 points above a human-only baseline, while those given incorrect AI answers around half the time scored 15 points below it. That 40-point gap shows why AI's value depends on our willingness to challenge what it tells us. Watch the full episode to learn why critical thinking must remain part of every AI-assisted decision. #ArtificialIntelligence #DecisionMaking #CriticalThinking #CognitiveSurrender #behindthealgorithm

Gustavo Burnier shared thisMost AI content you read is written by someone trying to sell you something: a model lab hyping their latest release, a consultancy pitching their transformation framework, etc. That's why this report from Prosus is worth your time. Prosus is a €100B+ tech company (iFood, Just Eat, PayU, GoodHabitz, and others) with 40,000 employees across Europe, Latin America, and India. They built an internal AI agent platform, deployed 60,000 agents, and spent 18 months figuring out what actually works. Not to sell you anything, but because they needed it to run their own business. GoodHabitz has been an integral part of this journey. And reading the report, I kept nodding, because these 5 takeaways match what we experienced on the ground: 1. The "power law" is real. 2% of agents drive most of the value. Don't chase volume; chase those 2%. At GoodHabitz, 3 Agents saved 35,000 hours! 2. Every company independently builds the same 20 agents. Churn detection, data analytics, vendor onboarding, contract review... the list is surprisingly universal. 3. A small fraction of agents already replace entire roles, not just tasks. The step change is bigger than most people realise. 4. Scaling AI is a people problem, not a tech problem (no surprise here). Ambassadors, workshops, prompt training, and internal contests mattered more than the models used. 5. Layering AI on existing structures gives you marginal gains. The real upside comes from redesigning how work is organised around AI - like factories did with electricity. No affiliate link. No pitch. Just 48 pages of hard-won operational experience from a company doing the work. Kudos to Prosus for sharing these learnings openly 👏 👏 Link in comments.

Gustavo Burnier shared this400 AI Agents. And 3 of them already saved us 35,000 hours. These aren't platform automations or vibe-coded apps. These are AI Agents built inside our internal AI platform, purpose-built for workflows, by the people who live those workflows every day. We've built approximately 60 Agents in the Revenue team alone. They are not dealing with earth-shattering topics - just everyday tasks, and doing it systematically: automating tasks, streamlining them, in some cases eliminating parts of the workflows altogether. The 3 most-used Revenue Agents saved us 35,000 hours already. I'm proud of how fast we built them, and how fast the team adopted them. But what I'm most proud of is how we got here. We didn't hand down a top-down list of AI Agents. We built an enabling platform that lets anyone develop agents - with guidance and support - to solve their own workflow challenges. Bottom-up, validated by natural selection: the agents that genuinely help people get used. The ones that don't, don't. It allows for experimentation. It empowers. And that's exactly why it works. Kudos to everyone who worked and continue to work on this - and specially to Remy Reurling, Pietro Favè, Giovanni Gentile, Ellen van den Broek, Alessandra Desii, Felipe Nyland, Francesca Placa More in the oven. Watch this space. Onwards. #GoodHabitz #AI #innovation

Gustavo Burnier shared thisSuper interesting: as AI continues to automate more technical and repeatable work at pace, Fortune 500 leaders are increasingly positioning ‘human skills’ as strategic differentiators rather than ‘nice-to-have’ capabilities. The conversation has shifted from: Soft-skills are important --> Human skills are now business critical infrastructure

Gustavo Burnier posted thisTwo weeks in, and Julia is already making her presence felt. We recently welcomed Julia Langerak MBA to GoodHabitz as our new Product Marketing Lead - with our well stablished core product and two new products (Goodhabitz Experts and Goodlearn) the timing couldn't be better. Julia brings 12+ years of B2B SaaS and technology marketing experience, with a strong track record in go-to-market strategy, product launches, and customer intelligence across international markets. Exactly the depth we needed. Product Marketing is one of those functions that, when done well, makes everything else sharper - from how we position and market our products, to how Sales tells the story, to how customers understand the value we deliver. Getting this right matters, and I'm glad we now have Julia leading it. Happy to have her on the team. A well-deserved thank you to Laura Cannon at Darwin Recruitment for making the right match. Welcome, Julia! Onwards. #GoodHabitz

Gustavo Burnier shared thisAbout a month ago we made a very good decision. We brought Nevlynn Janssen on board at GoodHabitz as Interim Marketing Transformation Lead, and he has hit the ground running — bringing real B2B SaaS marketing depth, a data-driven mindset, and the "lean forward" energy that makes transformation work move. I know I am not the only one here happy to have him on the team. A well-deserved nod to Saloa Bloch at &deBlauw Search | Interim | Advisory for finding the right person. Good talent isn't easy to come by, so thank you. Welcome, Nevlynn. Onwards. GoodHabitz

To make a long story short, we built our own version of adaptive multi-paddock grazing, which we call Precision Grazing, to restore soils at one of our farms depleted by years of poor management. Only later did we learn that it had a name and a body of research behind it. I have no background in agriculture, so I had a lot to catch up on once I found out. I read, watched documentaries and YouTube videos, and above all listened to podcasts. At the time, I was spending long hours in physiotherapy, recovering from an injury from my big wave surfing shenanigans with Red Herrings | Nazaré. Investing in Regenerative Agriculture and Food was my go-to podcast, by a mile. Thank you, Koen van Seijen for keeping me company, unknowingly, through that recovery, for helping me better understand the regenerative agriculture sector, and, a few years later, for inviting me to tell The Land Group's story on your podcast. Gustavo Burnier reacted on thisGustavo Burnier reacted on thisRussell & Atwell turns 6 this week 🎂, it's lovely hitting this mini-milestone. An explanation: we very nearly weren't Russell & Atwell at all. We set out as 'Upside Down Chocolate' (still our official company name) until Jonathan Ford and the team at Pearlfisher suggested we needed something more personal, to reflect a very personal business - they were, after all, our chocolates. Aside from a certain British awkwardness that it looked like an ego-trip, I'm mostly pleased we made the change. So, with my co-founder Steve Russell here are 6 things we love and 6 we're less fond of (some still a work in progress!)… ❤️ LOVE 😍 TASTINGS: the delight on people's faces when they taste what fresh organic double cream does compared with the usual palm oil. 4.77/5 from 3,300+ reviews. 🧊 PIONEERING 'FRESH' CHOCOLATE: it's built on proper, proudly British food. Organic double cream from Cotteswold Dairy Ltd wildflower honey from Wainwright's Bee Farm, sustainable cocoa from Luker Chocolate and a pinch of Dorset Sea Salt Company. Special editions are made with Rodda's Clotted Cream, Burnt Faith and GET BAKED® amongst others. 📺 TELLY it's unfashionable, but Dragons' Den ('22), The One Show ('25) and Prue Leith's Cotswold Heroes ('26) have introduced us to millions in minutes. 💰 NUMBERS that prove the model: CAC under £10 and payback in under 1.1 purchases. 🛒 100,000 SHOPIFY orders this year: a proper milestone. 🕺 SMALL BUSINESS AGILITY: we turned a wonky batch into 'Misfits', we can get a new range onto the site in minutes, and we shipped on all but 3 days of this rocket-hot summer. 😬 Less fond of... 😡 BAD REVIEWS: most people love us, but one bad review can ruin the day. 🧊 PIONEERING a category (yes, again!): scaled retail is taking longer than we'd like. It's still the destination, we're building on D2C's momentum (+76% YTD). 🌊 DEMAND WHIPLASH : we did 2 years of sales in 2 hours the night of Dragons' Den, and it took months to recover. Two Christmases ago we substantially over-produced - both painful 🧮 METRIC FIXATION: 365 days a year, I can guess our running D2C sales to within 10% - not healthy ⁉️ 100,000 ORDERS means 100,000 chances for something to go wrong, and every late parcel stings. 🪭 How fast things can HIT THE FAN: haulage strikes, 35° heatwaves, running out of pouches. Starting a business with the wonderful Steve Russell has been mostly a dream come true, and occasionally a nightmare. Such is small-business life. There are too many people to thank individually for getting us this far: friends and family for their support (and their custom!), investors and mentors, all our brilliant partners and, above all, our customers. Thank you. 🙏 Leaving aside TV spikes, we've grown consistently for 5 years and are tracking +76% YTD. We're now fundraising for our next 6 years of growth. If you'd like to play a part in the journey, do get in touch. #FreshChocolate #SmallBusiness #D2C

Gustavo Burnier liked thisThank you, Koen van Seijen, for the engrossing conversation. I do not think anyone has ever done so many laps of Jardim da Estrela without realising it.Gustavo Burnier liked thisRegenerative #grazing leads to superior returns and happier investors — but don't mention regenerative agriculture if you want to raise capital. That's the core of my conversation with Francisco Roque de Pinho, co-founder of The Land Group Group. A journey that started by fixing distressed financial assets in Latin America, which led them accidentally into agriculture in Uruguay — because clients asked them to turn around #farmland they had bought at a cocktail party that wasn't performing. They convinced one of those clients to put cows into a soy-corn rotation. Then they discovered regenerative grazing and went all in. The results: higher yields (more animals per hectare), lower costs, and happy investors. Superior on all fronts. But they don't use the word regenerative when pitching. It has a negative vibe around it — investors expect lower returns when they hear it. So we talk about what language is actually needed to have billions of investment capital flowing into #RegenerativeAgriculture. We also get into the real financial returns when applying regenerative grazing, why they are now investing in Spain and Portugal, and the huge differences between Uruguay and the #Montado landscapes of Iberia — and the massive potential of regen grazing in Europe. A fascinating conversation for anyone thinking about #farmland, impact, and what it actually takes to scale. And yes, the audio conversation recorded in Lisbon is paired with amazing visuals from The Land Group operations and Francisco's farm. Link in comments.

#Franquicias #Emprendimiento #BrooklynFitboxing #Franchising #Fitness

ABM can’t work without the critical human intervention. Interpreting buyer readiness ‘signals’ and ‘triggers’ requires a specific skill set. You can drive engagement, buyer intent and interest but if your timing is wrong - it can have the opposite effect. It’s a skill you need to master to be effective with running an ABM campaign. Hyperpersonalised and targeted with surgical precision is where it works.

Headline inflation is falling. But your customers still aren’t really spending The latest ONS retail sales data shows a 0.8% fall in March - not helpful for any UK board group leaning on a “recovery narrative”. And it gets worse. Consumer confidence (GfK) has slipped again. Not collapsed. Just quietly eroding. This is a danger zone. When CPI trends down, optimism creeps in and the foot comes off the gas. This isn’t a short-term wobble, it’s the cumulative effect of: • Two years of embedded price inflation • Persistently higher mortgage and rent costs • A consumer mindset shaped by uncertainty. Discretionary spend hasn’t rebounded. What’s changed most isn’t demand. It’s behaviour. - Loyalty is thinner. - Value is forensic. - And “brand strength” without direct Customer relevance is being punished at the till. This needs discussing at your next board meeting. The uncomfortable questions now are: • Which customer segments are still spending? • Where are you over-investing in customer groups whose economics no longer stack up? • How clearly can you link advantaged proposition, pricing, and cost-to-serve to profit resilience? This is where broad optimism must give way to the data. Boards that outperform in this environment are: • Segmenting customers by behaviour, not demographics • Reallocating capital to defend profitable demand. • Forcing hard conversations on GNFR, operational inefficiencies , pricing and proposition relevance, good cost vs bad cost. Is your commercial strategy truly aligned to how consumers are actually behaving today? Are you having these difficult conversations? If not, why don’t you feel able to? Here’s wherew I can help. #BoardAdvisory #UKRetail #ConsumerStrategy #CorporateGovernance #CEOInsight
