Available in black, champagne gold and rose gold, UnaliWear’s Kanega Medical Alert Watch with Fall Detection features proprietary RealFall technology, which the company claims is designed to activate during the event of an actual fall and not daily movement. In the event of a fall, the watch automatically connects to a medical alert operator, who will notify emergency responders if necessary. Users may also click the crown button on the watch or utilize voice activation for help at any time. The watch is available in four sizes, ranging from small to extra large; the desired size is chosen after purchasing. Additionally, it comes with an extra set of rechargeable batteries.
Our Experience Testing the UnaliWear Kanega Medical Alert Watch With Fall Detection
Our Forbes Health testers appreciated the device’s simple watch interface. With a singular push of the button, users can cycle through time, date and step count information. A double click on the date page switches the watch into settings mode. Here, users may cycle through battery status, Wi-Fi strength, brightness, volume and other settings. However, the overall design of the device felt large and heavy, with the two rechargeable batteries clicking directly into the side of the watch body. Anyone wanting a sleek device may look to a less bulky option that excludes external batteries.
During testing, fall detection detected just one false positive. It was a bit difficult to get connected for a test call, though, and took a full minute before getting connected to an operator. Additionally, during our initial test call, the device could not connect due to weak signal strength.
