From New Zealand to Australia, and back to IBM 🌏 For Swapneil, IBM will always be a place to learn. Whatever your passion, interest, or skill level, there are endless career paths to explore. 💡 After leaving IBM to join a major telco in New Zealand as a Strategic Account Manager, he set out with a clear plan: ✅ Start a data and AI practice within the telco ✅ Land some wins with anchor customers ✅ Expand the practice to be an integral part of the other managed offerings that the telco sold. “At IBM, I learned to stay focused, sell strategically, and balance the incubation of a data practice. My deals were well qualified, I engaged senior leaders with confidence, and within nine months I closed one of the telco’s largest managed services deals,” he said. Later, he moved to Australia with another organization but stayed close to his IBM network. Then the stars aligned, and an opportunity opened at IBM Australia! 🇦🇺 According to Swapneil, the best part of coming back was not just the role, it was rejoining a culture where learning never stops and colleagues feel like family. 💼 Want to be Swapneil’s colleague in Australia? If you worked at IBM a while back, you're probably about to get very nostalgic. Do any of these products ring a bell? IBM Verse, Lotus Notes, Domino Server, Kenexa... Those were some of the technologies Mohamed first worked with in his role in Digital Sales, covering the Middle East and Africa. It was a time of learning and growth, gaining hands-on experience selling a wide range of technologies to diverse stakeholders across industries, something he describes as an unmatched opportunity. After leaving IBM, Mohamed was a sales director at a local security company in Egypt. But the lessons he took from his time at IBM stayed with him. He learned how to build strong processes, act with integrity, and always prioritize the client. Mohamed decided to come back to IBM. Why? "I wanted to be part of the great technology evolution happening at IBM. I'm the most excited about the new acquisitions and the AI-driven strategy," he says. ✨ Ready to grow your career at IBM in Egypt, like Mohamed? 🌱 How to evolve from a curious graduate to a confident leader? Bongkoch’s story has the answer. "In 2017 I walked into IBM as a fresh graduate in the Consulting by Degree program, eager but unsure where this journey would take me. My first project? A high‑stakes banking transformation in Thailand." Bongkoch explains those early days were intense — diving into consulting skills, SQL testing, and learning to collaborate across cultures. After IBM, Bongkoch worked as a Business Analyst and Product Owner, applying her skills to create impact across industries. Yet the values IBM instilled — innovation, collaboration, continuous learning — kept calling her back. IBM's leadership in emerging technologies and its focus on solving real-world business challenges made it a natural place for her to continue growing. In 2022, Bongkoch returned as a Quality Engineer, where she: ✅ Shapes products from the ground up. ✅ Mentors and supports team members. ✅ Drives a culture of quality and innovation. ✅ Contributes strategically to client success. So, what’s different this time? Bongkoch came back with more experience, confidence, and a broader perspective. She's not just executing – she's influencing how they work, grow, and how to deliver value. 🔁 Thinking of rejoining IBM? "What’s next?" has always been the question guiding Richard Hogan's career. So when he saw IBM acquiring Red Hat and doubling down on cloud hyperscaler partnerships, it wasn’t just a strategic move — it felt like a transformation he wanted to be part of. Since returning to IBM, Richard has embraced new opportunities with open arms: 💬"Even though I rejoined as a Microsoft Azure architect focused on financial services, I was able and encouraged to transition to a global role focused on developing the Microsoft business in Cybersecurity. This was an area that I had been interested in for several years, and IBM provided me the opportunity to try something new." But he didn't stop there. 🌱 Today, Richard is IBM’s Global Chief Architect for Microsoft Cloud. 💬 “I’m excited to help shape our offerings — especially integrating Generative AI tools like IBM Consulting Advantage (ICA) into our joint solutions.” What does he say about the future? 💬 "I think we are on the edge of a large paradigm shift, as we and our clients continue to develop and adopt AI technologies, the next couple of years are going to bring around a big shift in how organisations and end users use and consume the masses of data that are available." Are you a leader with deep industry insight and a passion for solving complex challenges, interested in a return to IBM? Let's talk: https://ibm.co/6049BHvCW #IBMAlumni

"To anyone considering a return to the workforce after a long break: it’s possible." This is Tierney McCaughrin's story. "After stepping away from the workforce to raise my two children and support my husband’s career in the U.S. Army — moving frequently across states, oceans, and countries — I found myself craving a new challenge once my kids reached grade school. I spent a few years working in education at their school, which was fulfilling in its own way, but I missed solving complex problems and creating tangible results. That’s when a former IBM teammate reached out with an opportunity — and just like that, I was back, picking up almost exactly where I left off 12 years earlier. What surprised me most? The depth of technical knowledge that had quietly stayed with me all those years. It felt like muscle memory, ready to be reactivated. Today, I work in pre-silicon verification for the Z Mainframe processor core, contributing to the technology that powers some of the world’s most critical transactions with unmatched reliability. Being part of this team is both humbling and exhilarating. My return to IBM has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. It’s a testament to the value of foundational skills, the strength of professional relationships, and the power of timing."
