The sharp rise in energy prices linked to the Middle East conflict is reviving a familiar policy dilemma. When energy costs jump sharply, governments come under pressure to shield households and firms. With limited fiscal space, the question is not only whether to offer support, but also how to offer it.

This analytical tool, also known as OECD EDISON (Environmental and Decarbonisation Impact Simulations On National budgets), was developed by the OECD. It helps countries calculate the fiscal impacts of decarbonisation and environmental challenges.

The Project aims to support Ireland in developing a Responsible Business Compass for policy makers and businesses to understand and navigate EU legislation on climate neutrality, sustainability and responsible business conduct. The future Compass will make it easier for policymakers to reduce administrative burden and offer the right support, and for businesses to know what they need to do and what policy support is available to them. This tool is developed as a mock-up for testing and hands-on experimentation. It aims to support upcoming policy and multistakeholder dialogues which will inform OECD recommendations on the desirable features of the Responsible Business Compass

The OECD Substitution and Alternatives Assessment Toolbox (SAAToolbox) compiles resources relevant to chemical selection including substitution and alternatives assessment, as well as the OECD SSIA (Safe(r) and Sustainable Innovation Approach) for nano-enabled and other emerging materials.
