In memory of Dr. Jane Goodall, we're revisiting the wisdom from her 2017 AMA: “Every single one of us can make a difference. And make a difference every day.” https://bit.ly/3IS8Mj0 via r/IamA

8 years, one house party, and a Beastie Boys AMA later... Rachel Weber Callaway joined Reddit in 2017, and since then, she’s pretty much seen it all. From our very first SDCC “activation” (read: a rented house and some handmade signs), to helping brands like Disney and Apple launch their first-ever Reddit campaigns (including AMAs with the Beastie Boys and Spike Jonze!), to the day we went public. She’s been a driving force behind what Reddit is today, building and leading teams across KarmaLab, Consumer Product Marketing, and now, Community. "Reddit is unlike any place I've ever worked. It's a company fueled by passionate people who want to go deep on the areas they care about—just like our platform." When she’s not shaping Reddit, she’s scrolling it. Some of her favorite subreddits at the moment include r/alternateangles, r/midtiersuperpowers, and r/whatthefrock.

Today, r/sysadmin boasts over 1.1 million weekly visitors, but that community didn't happen overnight. "When I joined the modteam, it was a young sub with no real direction beyond its name and topic," says mod u/mkosmo. "So we worked to develop a community based on professional discourse and sharing." Discover how proper intention and a goal to remain focused helped create a home for sys admin professionals to talk shop: https://lnkd.in/gtDTeZpZ
