PINC (Promoting Inclusivity in Computer Science) Mentor
San Francisco State University
- 5 months
Education
Mentored three students from underrepresented backgrounds in computer science.
Guided students in designing and implementing the back end for their web application, www.healthmsgu.me (Python with Flask). HealthMsgU returns visualized data and sentiment analysis for tweets that are correlated with user-queried health issues. -
GeneDive Research Assistant
Stanford University
- 4 months
Science and Technology
Assisted in developing scripts used by a medical-journal scraping algorithm for the purposes of ETL, now currently utilized by www.GeneDive.net. Implemented and improved UI components.
GeneDive is a Node.js-powered application which allows users to visualize known relationships between genes, medicine, and diseases, currently being collaboratively developed by faculty and students at Stanford University and San Francisco State University.

Counting Sheep
See projectJava, XML -- A free educational Android app for children, which allows users to solve randomly generated math problems and send their parents "report" cards with information about what they were able to achieve in a session. The app features graphics, sound effects, and music that combine in a way to make practicing math problems feel like a fun game.

Currently, users can select between addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division type problems that deal with either natural numbers or integers based on preference. -
Portfolio Webpage
See projectHTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript -- Uses modals, smooth bookmark transitions, and features a responsive design that displays intuitively across a variety of browsers and devices.
-
Cellular Automata
See projectJava -- Conway's Game of Life, with a twist! Provide a seed in the form of an integer rule of your choosing, and remark at the resulting patterns that generate and display conveniently to the console.
Sample runs have been pasted into the comments section, at the bottom of the .java file. -
GUI Cards
See projectJava -- Graphically simulates the top down presentation of a card game. Displays a hand of cards randomly drawn from a fully-functioning deck (can be shuffled, dealt from, etc). Designed to be easily integrated into various card game applications against an AI, such as blackjack or poker.
The linked repository also includes a couple of screenshots that capture various output examples. -
iTunes Playlist Creator
See projectC++ -- Add song titles and lengths to the included itunes file, specify a window, and the creator will quickly return a list of songs whose summed lengths will exactly fit that window.
If you're interested in testing the application out but don't really feel like editing a text file, you can just use the sample song information provided for you in itunes.txt.
