Sambhav Anand reposted thisSambhav Anand reposted thisThe biggest challenge facing account managers isn't insurance, it's workflow. Every extra handoff, manual update, and disconnected system takes time away from clients. In this Insurance Journal feature, Account Manager and Team Lead Lauren Sebastiani, CLIC, shares how Fulcrum is helping reduce administrative work, improve accuracy, and create more time for what matters most: building client relationships. Sambhav Anand shared thisWorking with Patrick Liu has been extremely exciting! This will be a great opportunity for anyone looking to get into the weeds of building a fast growing business!Sambhav Anand shared thisI joined Fulcrum 4 months ago and it's been the most exciting professional run of my life. Now I'm hiring someone to work directly alongside me. The role is Founding Operator. The pitch is simple: this is the highest-agency, highest-learning seat you can take before starting your own company. What you'll actually do: → Sit alongside our CEO, CTO, and the rest of leadership on the hardest, most ambiguous problems we face. → Touch every part of the business in a single week: product, deployment, pricing, customer strategy, GTM automation, board materials. The mandate is unbounded. → Operate in the unstructured. If something matters and no one else is doing it, you own it. Who I'm looking for: → 2 to 4 years at MBB or a bulge-bracket / elite boutique IB → A punishingly high internal bar paired with real humility → AI-native. You're already using frontier models to do the work of three people, and can speak to what they can and can't actually do today → Aspiring founder energy. You want the reps before you go start your own thing You will learn more in 6 months here than in 3 years anywhere else. In-person in SF. Incredibly competitive comp + meaningful founding-team equity. Apply or tag someone who fits: https://lnkd.in/eaQSAV4i

Sambhav Anand shared thisThis is an extremely exciting opportunity to be super close to user's and work on cutting edge AI products. Come redefine the insurance industry with us!Sambhav Anand shared thisWe're hiring for a staff designer at Fulcrum. DM with portfolio if you're interested! I joined Fulcrum 2 months ago as founding designer and couldn't be more excited to share this opportunity. Here's why my job has been great: 1. Our users are SO lovely! The insurance industry requires you to be very detail-oriented and communicative. This means that people will test your new features thoroughly. When there are bugs, they provide well-written repro steps, often with screenshots and diagrams too 🤯 I've been super impressed by the meticulousness of our user. 2. Excellent senior product and engineering team. Every day, I get to work with amazing teammates like Albert Hu, Tristan Rhodes, Steven Yang, Kyu Hyun Chang (and many more). I'd characterize them as: humble, funny, smart (who could ask for more?). We're here with one shared mission: to build the best product possible, with craft and quality. 3. I get to design beautiful AI experiences for an industry deprived of good software. The design challenges at Fulcrum require us to solve complex workflow and platform problems while figuring out how to bridge trust, reliability, and simplicity for users. There is no playbook yet, so every new feature designed is an opportunity for innovation. 4. It’s been fun learning about how the world navigates responsibility through the world of insurance. Without it, the world comes to a halt. My iPhone couldn't have been transported from overseas without it. The building I’m sitting in right now could not have existed if the workers weren’t properly insured for construction. It turns out, the world operates on insurance because it's the answer to what happens when things go wrong. Brokerages enable insurance, and Fulcrum takes brokerage enablement to a whole new level. 5. We have a REALLY nice massage chair in the office!!!! If you're a designer curious about working at a Series A vertical AI company, DM me! I'd love to chat.

Sambhav Anand shared thisWelcoming Alex Chiriac to Fulcrum. Alex is the kind of engineer who makes hard things look quiet. At Smartsheet, he built infrastructure handling 100k requests per second. When it came time to migrate to a new microservice, he didn't just cut over and hope. He built a parallel system that routed traffic to both, catching every discrepancy before it could matter. Before Smartsheet, he was at Stripe, where he owned features that touched millions of dollars in monthly transactions. Alex has been building software where the stakes are high with no room for error. Thoughtful, precise, and one of those people where you finish a conversation and realize they'd already thought of everything you were about to say. That's exactly who we wanted at Fulcrum. Welcome to the team, Alex!

Sambhav Anand shared thisWelcoming Steven Yang to Fulcrum. There's a specific kind of engineer that's hard to find. Someone who's been there when things break at scale. Who knows what it takes to keep systems alive when the stakes are high. Steven is that engineer. He joined Alchemy as a foundational engineer, one of the first 7. Helped scale it to 250+ employees and a $10.2B Series C. Maintained 99.9%+ uptime through the incidents that mattered most. Walked away with two patents. Before that, he built applications at Box and Cisco Meraki. Then he went to Brain Co. to build AI platform infrastructure. The pattern is clear: Steven goes where the hard problems are. That's exactly why we wanted him at Fulcrum. We're building infrastructure that insurance brokerages rely on every day. It needs to be fast and reliable from day one. Steven has done this before. Excited for what we'll build together. Welcome to the team, Steven!

Sambhav Anand shared thisWe just acquired Megaphone 🎉 I’m super excited to welcome Albert Hu and Catherine Chang to Fulcrum as our Founding Product Manager and Founding Product Designer. Albert and Catherine co-founded Megaphone, where they built software infrastructure for companies like Coinbase and Forbes. They had their pick of companies for what came next, and they chose to come build with us. Having dedicated product and design leadership changes what's possible for our engineering team. We're building AI agents that need to parse and reason over massive PDF documents where a single misread number can create costly legal exposure. It's the kind of problem where reliability and product craft are not just nice-to-haves. Getting the details right is the whole game. Albert and Catherine have an unusually rare combination: they go deep on the technical constraints and still obsess over the user experience. In insurance, that balance is everything. Three weeks in, they've already changed how we think about core parts of the product. Albert is shaping our roadmap with real customer input. Catherine is rethinking workflows that brokers have done by hand for decades. Couldn't be happier to have them on the team. We're growing fast and the team we're building is exceptional. If you want to tackle deep technical problems and build product that transforms an entire industry, message me.

Sambhav Anand liked thisSambhav Anand liked thismonday.com just cut about 20 percent of its workforce, roughly 600 roles, and told everyone it was not about saving money. On 22 July the company disclosed the move in an SEC filing and framed it as a pivot from seat-based software to an AI-agent platform, not a cost cut. It expects 45 to 55 million dollars in restructuring charges. Read the P&L geography carefully, because the framing matters. A genuine cost cut drops severance in and lifts margin out the other side. A reinvestment takes the same cash charge and points the freed capacity at a new product bet, and the margin may not move for a year. Both look identical in the quarter they land. The finance leader is the one who has to tell the board which one this actually is, and hold management to the version they sold. #CFO #FinanceLeadership #Restructuring #AIinFinance #ForumCFO

Today, we're a team of 85 in San Francisco, building products across payments, premium financing, accounting automation, and more. It was great having him in the office last week to catch up in person and reflect on how much has changed over the past four years. Thanks to David and the Three Arbor Insurance team for being part of our journey. Looking forward to what's next!

Sambhav Anand liked thisSambhav Anand liked thisEvery Friday at Fulcrum ends with something special. Last week, we held 'Le Grand LaCroix Blind Tasting Examination.’ Amelia Brain thinks up creative ideas early in the week, polls the team, and plans it. The team's picks never disappoint. We've things like done a guac station and a wine and cheese night. This time it was a blind tasting of 6 wines and 11 LaCroix flavors. It might sound like fun and games. But no one treated it like a joke. At exactly 5:30pm, 40 people wandered around smelling each sample like seasoned sommeliers. Orange and tangerine were planted as curveballs to trip people up. The team wasn't fooled. Alex Chiriac won the LaCroix round with 9 out of 11 correct. The more intense the work, the more we anchor on having fun together. It’s the Fulcrum spirit. Join us next Friday. We're hiring.

Sambhav Anand reacted on thisWelcome to Fulcrum, Bharath Sitaraman! Bharath joins our Product team, bringing over a decade of product experience from Pivotal, Snowflake, and Alchemy. He's built and scaled data infrastructure and platform products across every stage, from incubation to market leadership. We're stacking the team with people who know how to ship. Glad to have you, Bharath.Sambhav Anand reacted on thisExcited to share I've joined Fulcrum on the Product Team. 🎉 I spent some time deciding where to point my energy next, and what won me over was simple: insurance runs the economy quietly in the background, and so much of the work behind it is still manual, repetitive, and slow. The people doing that work deserve better tools. That's what we're building. Fulcrum is bringing AI to the day-to-day workflows insurance brokerages actually run on, taking the tedious parts off people's plates so they can spend their time on judgment, relationships, and the work that genuinely needs a human. What pulled me Fulcrum is that the hard problems here are real. This isn't AI for novelty's sake; it's AI applied to messy, high-stakes, deeply human workflows where the details matter and getting the experience right is everything. A few weeks in, I already know I made the right call. Grateful to Arjun, Sambhav, Albert, and the rest of the team for the welcome! If you're building in insurance or just curious what we're up to, I'd love to talk.

Sambhav Anand liked thisSambhav Anand liked thisToday was my last day at Eightfold AI I came here in part to be closer to AI. And Eightfold delivered on that. But it also gave me so much more than I expected. I built muscles around working with enterprise customers. Hands-on leadership - switching between strategic thinking and low-level details with ease. Saw what strategic partnership with HRBPs and recruiters looks like. Got to build production agentic products. And the team at Eightfold was one of the most dedicated I’ve seen. People who showed up for each other, especially when it counted. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it. At the same time, I’m super excited for what comes next. Building is always something that I’ve enjoyed. And this one will be all about that. More to come.

Sambhav Anand liked thisSambhav Anand liked thisWe placed 2nd at the AI Tinkerers Hyderabad X Claude Code Central Hackathon supported by Anthropic Huge shoutout to my partner Sidharth Jain - we went from a whiteboard idea to a working, demoable product in a single build day, and somehow came out as runners-up. What we built: FDM (Forward Deployment Manager) - think version control for the reasoning behind code, not just the code itself. The problem: when a team builds with AI in the terminal, the founding developer holds all the "why" - why a line exists, what edge cases it protects, which approaches were tried and rejected. None of that travels with the code. So the next developer changes it, and silently breaks something no one remembered was load-bearing. FDM sits quietly between every developer and their AI coding agent. Before any code gets edited, it checks the change against the stored reasoning, surfaces the backstory ("here's why this exists and what you'd break"), and routes real conflicts to an approver through a clean dashboard - then updates its own memory once a decision is made. Built terminal-first on Claude Code, in hours, under pressure. The best part wasn't the placement though - it was the energy in the room. A day of builders shipping fast, sharp feedback, and zero ego. Thank you to the AI Tinkerers Hyderabad and community for putting it together. More of this, please. Many YC founders go to Demo Day expecting to fill their round and get back to work. But then reality hits: Lots of them don't raise a dollar. You just don't hear about these stories. You only hear about the successes. YC partners are clear about this: "Don't think that just because you're YC, you'll lift a finger and raise your round." The badge gets you in the room. But you're still competing against 50-100 other startups for maybe 5-10 investment spots per fund. If I were to do YC again, here’s how I’d approach it: Use the $500K to create a 3-year runway and build something people want with a team of 2 in total. I won’t show up to demo day. Just focus on building. I’d forget about: Growth targets. Fundraising decks. Creating a one-liner. 100% focus on profitability. That's how you become default alive and don’t need to beg for money.

Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) is the new hot role in tech right now, especially at startups iterating quickly for customers. But most startups are hiring FDEs without a clear blueprint for the role or how to onboard them efficiently. As Lorikeet's founding FDE, it took me four months to hit my stride. Getting there meant pulling engineers from deep work, grabbing strategy time with the founders, and mapping processes with ops. Essential for me, but expensive and unsustainable for the company. Then we scaled to 10 FDEs in eight months. That's when I realized: FDE onboarding isn't a documentation problem. It's a context synthesis problem. Here's what makes ramping FDEs uniquely hard: → They Need Organizational Context, Not Just Technical Docs. "Deploy this for the customer" requires understanding sales promises, engineering constraints, AND customer workflows. Traditional onboarding teaches systems. FDE onboarding needs to teach judgment where no playbook exists. → Learning What NOT to Do is Harder Than Learning What to Do. FDEs are the dumping ground for "someone should handle this" tasks. Without clear precedent, new FDEs have no framework for prioritizing when everyone thinks their request is urgent. → Speed of Context-Switching is the Bottleneck. One moment debugging infrastructure, next explaining product roadmap, then scoping integrations. The constraint isn't technical skill—it's how fast you synthesize scattered info across Slack threads, engineering specs, and meeting notes. The pattern: FDEs operate in ambiguity with no single source of truth. Companies that help them navigate chaos and synthesize context quickly will scale their customer-facing technical teams faster than anyone else. What's been your biggest learning about ramping FDEs?

Getting into YC: A Y-Combinator founder just gave some incredible insights on what really works. 1. Write concise answers so reviewers see the problem and solution quickly. 2. Show a growth mindset by openly discussing weaknesses and lessons learned. 3. Frame YC as accountability to higher standards, not just money or network access. 4. Present a vision that can reach a $1B+ valuation. 5. Use a clear wedge, starting with a niche pain point. 6. Demonstrate traction with signed LOIs, not just revenue. 7. 20 loyal users who rely on you beat 10,000 sign-ups who churn. 8. Prove the idea with a duct-taped MVP first. 9. Talent and funding will follow once demand is clear. 10. Insight from lived pain and execution speed beat a prestigious resume every time. This isn't just a list of tips, it’s a mindset. YC is looking for an obsession with the problem and a relentless focus on execution. Which of these insights do you think is most critical for a successful application? ♻️ Did this help you? Repost to help someone else. 💖 Follow me, Shawaiz Ahmed for more conversations on tech.
