During the closing ceremony of this year’s Pokémon World Championships, The Pokémon Company dropped a surprise teaser trailer for Pokémon: Wild Card — a new feature-length movie from studio CloverWorks that appears to be about the trading card game. The film’s set to release some time in 2027.

After teasing them back in March, Lego has now officially unveiled its first Mario-themed collection to come with character minifigures. Nintendo announced two Switch 2 bundles arriving this fall, following the $50 price increase for the console starting September 1st. One’s familiar (a $549.99 Mario Kart World bundle that also includes three months of Nintendo Switch Online) and one’s new (containing Switch Sports Resort and the Switch Online trial for $529.99). Each factors in the new price, but offers a bit more value compared to previous bundles thanks to the Switch Online subscriptions. The bundles will launch in late September and on October 22nd, respectively.
The Duskbloods’ network test was set to start at 6am ET, but the first session ended early while developer FromSoftware works to improve the servers. As inconvenient as this is for those trying to demo the game, a network test is of course meant to test the network.

After announcing GameCube games were coming to Nintendo Switch Online over a year ago, Nintendo has added that console’s divisive Mario outing, Super Mario Sunshine. It joins other GameCube titles like The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and Luigi’s Mansion, but keep in mind you’ll need to pay for the Expansion Pack to play them.
It’s been nearly six years since Nintendo stopped making the 3DS but that hasn’t preevnted the console from learning new tricks. If you’ve got a 3DS that can run homebrew apps you can turn the clamshell into a wireless remote for controlling Spotify using files and instructions you’ll find on GitHub.
Unlike many retro handhelds that require access to ROM files, Hyperkin’s SupaBoy plays original Super Nintendo and Super Famicom cartridges from all regions on its 4.3-inch display. After 14 years the console is finally coming to Europe alongside two new color options: bright red crimson and transparent prime.
The game launches on Switch 2 on October 27th. Microsoft says there will be a “digital upgrade path” for players who own the game on the original Switch, though it’s planning to share more details on that later.
Nintendo’s next big Switch 2 exclusive — Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave — is also the subject of the company’s next Direct showcase. It streams August 4th at 10AM ET and will last around 20 minutes, according to Nintendo. The game, meanwhile, is launching on September 17th.
If you’re one of the folks who picked up a Virtual Boy headset for the Switch, Nintendo has a solid update coming your way: on August 4th two unreleased games are launching for subscribers, along with the option to adjust colors. Meanwhile, Super Mario Sunshine is being added to the Gamecube classics collection on August 13th.
The new extended trailer for the first wave of Pokopia DLC gives us a much better look at all the water type monsters you’ll be able to befriend in Bubbly Basin beginning August 5th. It also looks like building underwater houses is about to get much easier.
That’s the sound of the Splatoon series exploring a new genre with Splatoon Raiders, which is Nintendo’s take on looter shooters. I quite enjoyed my time with the game, but you can check it out for yourself now, as it launches today on the Switch 2.
Applications open on July 22nd at 10AM ET, and you’ll need to have a Switch 2 and an active Nintendo Switch Online membership to participate. Applications will be accepted in “the order that they are received,” so if you want a chance to try it, be ready on this page that day.
Selections will be announced on August 7th at 9AM ET. The test will run at specific times from August 21st through August 23rd.

The fast-paced racing game is currently on sale for $50 (usually $70) at Amazon, although you’ll have to add it to your cart to see the price. Air Riders features extensive customization and sharing features, and surprising depth considering its light-hearted vibes. This deal’s worth taking advantage of if you’ve been put off by the game’s original price.

After announcing plans to end sales of the Switch in Europe starting next year, Nintendo tells IGN that “We plan to continue selling Nintendo Switch outside of regions where Nintendo of Europe conducts business.”
The trend isn’t new, but the only thing cooler than catching Nemophila’s performance last week at The Meadows in Brooklyn was seeing and capturing a shot of this person recording on their Nintendo 3DS.

That’s the sound of Wario Land being added to Nintendo’s lineup of classic games available to Switch Online subscribers. It’s out now alongside shooter Fortified Zone, dungeon crawler The Sword of Hope II, and Dr. Mario & Puzzle League (if you pay for the more expensive tier).
The company is continuing to retreat from the mobile game space (with a few strange exceptions), this time by ending support for Mario Kart Tour in September. However, unlike Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, the game won’t be getting a microtransaction-free offline mode after support ends.
That’s no secret, and the demise of physical media isn’t helping things. Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa recently reiterated this sentiment during a shareholders meeting, explaining that “there are certain challenges in preserving and exhibiting past games as they are, particularly in keeping them in a playable state.“
I’ve been playing a lot of Mario Kart World recently, so for me, the new routes in the 1.7.0 update are arriving at the perfect time.
Next up: hopefully more alternate outfits for Donkey Kong, who somehow only has one? And maybe an improved Grand Prix mode?

It will run at 30fps both docked and in handheld, Nintendo Everything reports. The physical version will be on cart, according a listing from retailer VGP, but the company says that while the game isn’t a game-key card, “we have not been told to what extent the game is on the cart.”
If you missed the second Super Mario movie in theaters, it’s hitting Peacock on July 30th, which is a good amount of time to jump into the games if you haven’t.
