Dan Brodovich reacted on thisDan Brodovich reacted on this🎶 I’m excited to share that I’ve joined the Board of Trustees of the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra & Chorale (PBOC)! This is a meaningful moment for me. If you know me well, you know that I am passionate about how people encounter classical music, not just the work itself, but the structures that either invite people in or quietly keep them out. PBOC has been an organization I’ve admired for doing the slower, more intentional work of opening that door. I’m especially grateful to Emma Moon, PBOC’s Executive Director and a longtime friend, for her leadership and seeking me out for Board service. There’s real momentum right now, an energy grounded in tradition, but clearly oriented toward innovation, access, and reimagining what this institution can become. Hailed by the NYT as “one of the country’s best period instrument ensembles”, PBOC’s legacy speaks for itself: a Grammy Award–winning ensemble, a Gramophone Award recipient, named “Ensemble of the Year” by Musical America, and one of the most recorded historically informed ensembles in its field. What feels especially compelling right now is the context PBOC sits in. This is an organization steeped in tradition, but rooted in a community defined by constant reinvention, where “creative destruction” is part of the cultural fabric. While it’s tempting to conclude that tradition and innovation are conflicting ideals, PBOC is demonstrating that the fine arts can honor deep artistic lineage while also leaning into the expectation that meaningful institutions evolve. That evolution is also reflected in new artistic leadership, with Music Director Peter Whelan joining at a moment when the organization is expanding its artistic voice and direction and delivering an astoundingly beautiful production of Handel's Tolomeo in his inaugural program. Through contemporary collaborations, such as our recent world premiere of a work by Grammy- and Pulitzer Prize–winning composer Caroline Shaw, alongside new commissions and programming designed to meet audiences where they are, PBOC is expanding what classical music can feel like today. For me, that work matters deeply: creating space for more people to encounter this music on their own terms, where tradition and accessibility are not in tension, but in dialogue. I’m honored to join the Board in this chapter, and grateful to Emma and the entire PBOC community for the opportunity. Sources suggest this admission comes amid growing concern within the Pentagon over depleting missile stockpiles, with senior officials reportedly warning that American reserves are running far lower than publicly acknowledged. Trump has pushed back against these claims, insisting the US holds more firepower than any nation on earth, but the disconnect between his statements and his own military's warnings is raising serious questions. Behind the scenes, the toll on American forces appears significant. Reports indicate multiple aircraft and helicopters have been destroyed, radar and missile defense systems have suffered major setbacks, and casualties among US personnel continue to climb, fueling unease within military ranks and among families back home. Meanwhile, Iran's Supreme Leader has doubled down, stating there is no alternative but to continue confronting the United States and Israel. Adding to the turmoil, a major Israeli defense contractor was reportedly hit by a large scale cyberattack, with a significant volume of sensitive military data allegedly stolen, deepening concerns about the reach of Iran's response. Dan Brodovich liked thisDan Brodovich liked thisStill buzzing ✨ after speaking as a Keynote at Top Tech Conference Interface - Québec in front of 1,000+ attendees about AI. A true bucket list moment! The moment I saw the venue, I thought, "Well... this was a terrible idea." At one point I was pretty sure I needed Google Maps to find coffee. Huge kudos to the team, my brain genuinely cannot process the logistics of pulling off something this big. Public speaking at that scale is bizarre. For 50 minutes, you're talking into giant stage lights, you can't really see anyone, nobody says a word, so your brain spends the entire time assuming you've lost the audience. Then everyone applauds, and you realize that maybe it wasn’t that terrible. The best part came afterward, when people stopped by to say they learned something or that I'd finally put words to ideas they'd been noticing themselves. That's the kind of feedback that makes all the nerves worth it. ❤️ Again massive shoutout to the City of Québec for pulling off the Interface - Québec conference and Capitale Numérique Carole-Ann Labriea Sabrina Métivier Simon Dostie for the opportunity of a lifetime. Grateful for the experience, learning and all the amazing people I met! I will never forget it ✨
