White Sox's Chase Meidroth: Clubs three-run homer
Meidroth went 2-for-3 with a walk and a three-run home run during Game 2 of the AL Wild Card Series against the Astros on Wednesday.
Chicago's second baseman went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Game 1 on Tuesday, and he followed up Wednesday with a three-run blast in the sixth inning to provide some key insurance runs in the 7-3, series-clinching victory. Those two playoff games are the first of Meidroth's young career, and he's hit the ground running after he posted a .276/.350/.415 slash line with 16 long balls, four steals, 63 RBI and 90 runs in 154 games during the 2026 regular season.

White Sox's Sean Burke: Struggles with long ball
Burke didn't factor in the decision in Game 2 of the AL Wild Card Series against the Astros on Wednesday. He struck out eight, giving up three runs on four hits and no walks over four innings.
Burke looked dominant at times with 14 whiffs on 72 pitches while punching out half of the batters he faced, but three solo homers prevented him from working deeper into the contest. The eight strikeouts tied a season high, and it was the seventh time in 33 appearances this year that he issued no free passes. With the White Sox advancing past the Astros, Burke could next take the mound as early as Game 2 of the ALDS against the Guardians on Monday.

White Sox's Hagen Smith: Opens bullpen game strong
Smith didn't factor in the decision in Game 1 of the AL Wild Card Series against the Astros on Tuesday. He allowed two hits with one strikeout and no walks over three innings.
The left-hander served as the opener for Tuesday's bullpen game and pitched more than two frames in an appearance for the second time this year. Smith's first campaign in the big leagues has been a major success, as he finished the regular season with a 1.29 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 41:16 K:BB across 28 innings. He'll surely be unavailable for Game 2 on Wednesday after tossing 38 pitches in the series opener.

White Sox's Chase Meidroth: Ready to go for Game 1
Meidroth (hamstring) will start at second base and bat eighth Tuesday in Game 1 of the American League Wild Card series in Houston.
Meidroth's final regular-season start came last Thursday, as he dealt with a left hamstring issue down the stretch. He did appear off the bench Saturday, and the infielder is ready to give it a go in his first career postseason contest. Meidroth was one of the White Sox's better hitters in the second half, slashing .286/.364/.473 with nine home runs.

White Sox's Hagen Smith: Drawing start in Game 1
Smith will start Game 1 of the American League Wild Card Series against the Astros on Tuesday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Smith is no stranger to working multiple innings, so the length of his start will likely depend on how he fares. He opened a game for the White Sox on Sept. 10, firing two scoreless frames against the Pirates while striking out three. Hagen ended the regular season with a 1.29 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with a 41:16 K:BB across 28.0 innings.
