Suns' Oso Ighodaro: Competing for starting role
Ighodaro is competing with Khaman Maluach for Phoenix's starting center job while Mark Williams is sidelined by a shoulder injury, Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic of The Arizona Republic reports.
Ighodaro said Wednesday that he and Maluach have been competing for the past two months and that he doesn't believe his experience from last season guarantees him the starting role. With Williams expected to miss multiple months, Ighodaro and Maluach should both have opportunities to earn substantial frontcourt minutes, though the competition could make their respective fantasy roles difficult to project entering the regular season.

Suns' Luke Kennard: Encouraged to shoot more
Kennard said Monday that head coach Jordan Ott has encouraged him to significantly increase his three-point volume this season, Shane Young of the Suns' official site reports.
"They want me to shoot, and they want me to shoot a lot," Kennard said, adding that he's been given the green light to attempt both open and more difficult looks. Kennard led the NBA by shooting 47.8 percent from three during the 2025-26 regular season but attempted only 3.1 triples per game. Ott has already warned Kennard that the increased volume could prevent him from leading the league in three-point percentage again, but a more aggressive approach from beyond the arc could boost the veteran sharpshooter's scoring production in Phoenix.

Suns' Jalen Green: Gets help from Steve Nash
Green said Monday that improving his playmaking and pace were major focuses during the offseason, with the guard working with Hall of Famer Steve Nash to develop those areas of his game, according to Suns reporter Ethan Kinney.
Green said Nash has helped him better understand how to read the floor and control the pace of a game, which could prove particularly useful with Phoenix looking to emphasize transition opportunities this season. Green averaged 17.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists across 32 regular-season appearances in 2025-26, and growth as a facilitator would add another dimension to his offensive profile.

Suns' Khaman Maluach: Draws praise from Booker
Maluach earned significant praise from Devin Booker on Monday for the progress he's made during the offseason, Shane Young of the Suns' official site reports.
"I'd say he's taken the biggest leap of anyone I've seen this summer," Booker said of the second-year center. Maluach averaged just 8.9 minutes across 46 regular-season appearances as a rookie, but he followed that limited role with an impressive showing at Summer League. Booker's strong praise provides another encouraging sign that Maluach could be ready to take on a substantially larger role in Phoenix's frontcourt in 2026-27.

Suns' Devin Booker: Feeling healthy this year
Booker is feeling the healthiest in his career this year, per Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic.
Booker is looking forward to his 12th year with the Suns in 2026-27 and is set for another huge campaign as the team's top scoring option. The star guard stands out as a safe investment in the early rounds of fantasy drafts, having played at least 64 games in each of the past eight seasons while averaging at least 25 points, five assists and nearly four rebounds plus one steal in all of the last four years.

Suns' Kennedy Chandler: Lands camp deal with Phoenix
Chandler signed a training camp contract with the Suns on Friday, Paul Garcia of The Spot Up Shot reports.
Chandler is set to compete for a spot on the Suns' regular-season roster during training camp. The 24-year-old point guard appeared in 11 regular-season games (two starts) with Utah in 2025-26, averaging 15.0 points, 6.7 assists, 3.4 rebounds, 1.4 triples and 1.0 steals while shooting 39.5 percent from downtown in 32.3 minutes per outing.

Suns' Phillip Wheeler: Signs camp deal with Phoenix
Wheeler signed a training camp contract with the Suns on Friday, Paul Garcia of The Spot Up Shot reports.
Wheeler could compete for a regular-season roster spot in training camp. However, the organization now owns his G League rights, so it's possible he'll be waived before camp begins. Over 46 games with the G League's Osceola Magic last season, Wheeler averaged 14.3 points and 3.4 rebounds in 23.0 minutes per showing.

Suns' Duop Reath: Inks pact with Phoenix
Reath (foot) agreed to a one-year veteran minimum contract with the Suns on Wednesday, John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reports.
With Mark Williams (shoulder) expected to miss around five months, Reath figures to compete for playing time with Khaman Maluach and Oso Ighodaro. Reath's 2025-26 campaign was cut short after he underwent right foot surgery in late January, and it's unclear if he'll be at full strength for training camp. Across 32 regular-season appearances for the Trail Blazers in 2025-26, he averaged 2.9 points and 1.2 rebounds across 8.1 minutes per contest.

Suns' Khaman Maluach: Expanded role on horizon
The door is open for Maluach to start at center for the Suns in the wake of Mark Williams' offseason shoulder surgery, Bobby Marks of ESPN.com reports.
The 2025 first-rounder is coming off a promising Summer League run, averaging 19.5 points, 12.8 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 53.2 percent from the floor over four appearances. Williams is expected to miss around five months, so the runway with Phoenix's top spot at center could be a long one. Maluach does have Oso Ighodaro to overcome for the role, so fantasy managers should keep close tabs on what projects to be a fierce camp competition.

Suns' Oso Ighodaro: Primed for larger role
Ighodaro has a chance to begin the season as Phoenix's starting center after Mark Williams underwent shoulder surgery Thursday.
The expectation is that Williams will be on the shelf for about five months, likely ruling out the big man until sometime around the All-Star break. Ighodaro filled in serviceably when Williams was injured in 2025-26, as the former averaged a productive 8.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.9 blocks in 27.4 minutes per game while shooting 67.4 percent from the field over 22 regular-season appearances with Williams unavailable. However, Ighodaro did shoot a paltry 40.8 percent from the free-throw line in those outings. Benjamin Garcia of the Locked On Podcast Network is hearing internal praise directed toward Khaman Maluach, who just averaged 19.5 points, 12.8 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.2 steals per game across four appearances in a dominant Summer League run, so the Suns appear to have an intense camp battle brewing for the top center spot in Williams' stead.

Suns' Mark Williams: Undergoes shoulder surgery
Williams underwent surgery Thursday to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder and will miss an extended period, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
This is a tough blow for the center with training camp right around the corner. With Williams on the inactive list, Oso Ighodaro and Khaman Maluach figure to see increased playing time, with the latter already drawing buzz during Summer League play. More clarity on Williams' timeline should be known in the coming weeks, and while nothing official has come from the Suns, Phoenix radio host John Gambadoro reports that the center could potentially miss around five months.

Suns' Dillon Brooks: Sits out qualifiers
Brooks did not participate in Canada's latest FIBA World Cup qualifying window as he gears up for the 2026-27 NBA season.
Brooks is coming off the best offensive season of his career, averaging 20.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals across 56 regular-season starts for Phoenix. The 30-year-old also signed a three-year, $73 million extension with the Suns in August that keeps him under contract through 2029-30. Brooks should remain an important part of Phoenix's starting lineup alongside Devin Booker. However, Brooks' fantasy value depends more on scoring and three-point production than on contributions across the stat sheet.

Suns' Oso Ighodaro: Expanding his game
Ighodaro has spent the offseason working to expand his offensive game, with the third-year big man specifically focusing on his free-throw shooting and three-point range, Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic reports.
Ighodaro attempted just three three-pointers over his first two NBA seasons and shot 45.3 percent from the charity stripe in 2025-26 over 82 regular-season games, so any progress as a shooter could add another dimension to his offensive profile. The 24-year-old also said he plans to be more aggressive while continuing to serve as a "connector" and on-court quarterback on both ends of the floor. Ighodaro averaged 6.5 points and 5.1 rebounds while shooting 65.3 percent from the field and appearing in all 82 regular-season games last campaign.

Suns' Haywood Highsmith: Returns to Suns
Highsmith agreed to a one-year deal with the Suns on Monday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
The Suns previously waived Highsmith, but they moved quickly to get him back under contract. A defensive specialist, Highsmith projects to be an emergency depth option at forward.

Suns' Haywood Highsmith: Waived by Phoenix
Highsmith was waived by the Suns on Wednesday, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.com reports.
Highsmith appeared in only seven games for the Suns during the 2025-26 campaign, averaging 5.4 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.0 assists across 13.0 minutes. The 29-year-old has plenty of experience, and while he could find a new team ahead of the 2026-27 season, he likely won't see much playing time.

Suns' Rasheer Fleming: Could struggle for playing time
Fleming will likely have to navigate through a crowded Suns frontcourt for an Opening Night role.
Phoenix is stocked with plenty of options at the forward spots, including new additions Miles Bridges and Koa Peat, who was selected in the first round of the 2026 NBA Draft. Jordan Goodwin, Haywood Highsmith and Ryan Dunn are also vying to be part of the squad's rotation, so Fleming has plenty of hurdles to overcome in order to attain fantasy relevance in 2026-27.

Suns' Khaman Maluach: Gearing up for second season
Maluach is set to battle with Oso Ighodaro for the top backup role at center behind Mark Williams during training camp.
The 19-year-old big man put forth a dominant Summer League run, averaging 19.5 points, 12.8 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 53.2 percent from the field over four appearances. Ighodaro is the early favorite to handle the No. 2 center minutes behind Williams, though a strong showing at camp could force the Suns to give Maluach more consideration.

Suns' Dillon Brooks: Agrees to three-year extension
Brooks agreed to a three-year, $73 million extension with the Suns on Wednesday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
Despite appearing in only 56 regular-season games in 2025-26, Brooks had a fantastic campaign, averaging a career-high 20.2 points along with 3.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals across 30.4 minutes per contest. He's not the most efficient shooter. However, the 30-year-old is capable of producing on both ends of the floor while also providing leadership and toughness. Brooks should continue to be a vital piece of the Suns' long-term plans, so he could see more minutes than ever in 2026-27. He has an excellent opportunity to match or surpass his production from last season, especially if Devin Booker, Jalen Green and Mark Williams can't stay off the injury report.
