Top Guardians News

  • Guardians' CJ Kayfus: Returns from IL

Kayfus (ankle) was activated from the 60-day injured list Monday.

Kayfus will head into the offseason at full strength after undergoing surgery in July to address a broken right ankle and ligament damage. He appeared in nine games for the Guardians in 2026 but spent the majority of his time at Triple-A Columbus, where he hit .240 with three homers, 25 RBI, six stolen bases and 15 runs over 46 appearances.

  • Guardians' Jo Adell: Clubs homer Sunday

Adell went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Royals.

Adell went just 23-for-95 (.242) over 25 games in September, adding three homers and 11 RBI. The outfielder batted .240 with a .699 OPS this season. He produced 23 homers, 94 RBI, 70 runs scored, 26 doubles, one triple and five stolen bases over a career-high 159 contests between the Guardians and the Angels. While his overall profile was mostly steady compared to his career year in 2025, he regressed in the power department.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Homer, steal in loss

Schneemann went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a stolen base in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Royals.

Schneemann saw a bench role after returning to the majors at the start of September. He went 3-for-10 over eight games this month. On the year, he hit just .210 with a .608 OPS, seven homers, 30 RBI, 30 runs scored, 11 doubles and seven steals over 286 plate appearances. Schneemann is not a lock to be on the postseason roster, and even if he makes it, he'll likely serve as a utility option off the bench.

  • Guardians' Parker Messick: Goes three innings

Messick allowed a run on six hits and a walk while striking out two over three innings in a no-decision versus the Royals on Sunday.

Messick's start was a shorter one, as expected, since the Guardians had nothing to play for in the regular-season finale. This outing will function to keep him on a normal schedule heading into the playoffs, where he's expected to get a start in the ALDS. Messick allowed no more than three runs in any of his last 15 starts of the season, providing excellent consistency. He ends the regular season with a 12-9 record, 2.56 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 193:49 K:BB over 186.1 innings through 32 starts.

  • Guardians' Craig Yoho: Sent down Sunday

The Guardians optioned Yoho to Triple-A Columbus on Sunday, Roundtable.io reports.

Yoho gave up two runs on three hits and a wild pitch while recording just one out Saturday, bringing his ERA up to 4.93 in 34 big-league appearances in 2026, and he will now head back to the minors to conclude the regular season. Austin Peterson replaces Yoho on the active roster and in the Cleveland bullpen.

  • Guardians' Austin Peterson: Recalled to majors

The Guardians recalled Peterson from Triple-A Columbus on Sunday, Roundtable.io reports.

Craig Yoho was demoted after allowing two runs in just one-third of an inning Saturday, and it will be Peterson who takes Yoho's spot in the Cleveland bullpen. Peterson has made just one appearance for the Guardians to date, tossing two scoreless innings with three strikeouts against Detroit in his major-league debut back on Sept. 5. The right-hander turned in a 4.41 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 107:38 K:BB over 102 innings with Columbus this season.

  • Guardians' Jose Ramirez: On bench Sunday

Ramirez is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

With the Guardians' playoff seeding set after the team clinched the AL Central title Saturday, Ramirez will rest for the regular-season finale. Daniel Schneemann will start at third base and bat eighth against lefty Daniel Lynch.

  • Guardians' Parker Messick: Will start Sunday vs. Kansas City

Messick will be the Guardians' starter for Sunday's regular-season finale against the Royals, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

The Guardians secured the AL Central division Saturday -- and the No. 2 seed in the AL playoffs -- following their win over Kansas City and the White Sox's loss to the Rockies. Still, the Guardians will have Messick toe the rubber Sunday, though it will likely be an abbreviated outing for the 25-year-old southpaw.

  • Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Goes deep twice in win

Rocchio went 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double, two RBI and three runs scored in Saturday's 11-5 win over the Royals.

Rocchio launched a solo shot in the seventh inning before going deep again in the ninth. It marked the second time the 25-year-old homered twice in a game in September, and he's now driven in 19 runs while scoring 15 times over 22 games this month. On the year, he's slashing .253/.313/.391 with 15 long balls, 73 RBI, 66 runs scored and 20 steals across 592 plate appearances.

  • Guardians' Patrick Bailey: First multi-homer game in win

Bailey went 2-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI in Saturday's 11-5 win over the Royals.

Bailey tied the game with a two-run shot in the second inning before going deep again in the ninth, notching the first two-homer game of his career. On the year, the 27-year-old is slashing .208/.274/.338 with 10 long balls, 37 RBI, 31 runs scored and three steals across 343 plate appearances, posting a .689 OPS in 81 games with the Guardians compared to a .396 mark in 30 with the Giants.

  • Guardians' Tanner Bibee: Posts quality start in win

Bibee (7-15) earned the win in Saturday's 11-5 win over the Royals, allowing three runs on seven hits and one walk with six strikeouts over six innings.

Bibee allowed three runs in the first inning but blanked the Royals from there, throwing 61 of 94 pitches for strikes with 13 whiffs. The performance lowered the 27-year-old's September ERA to a still-bloated 7.36 mark, and it was an encouraging effort as the Guardians prepare for the postseason. He'll finish the regular season with a 4.36 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 148:55 K:BB across a career-high 188 innings.
