Top Nets News

  • Nets' Michael Porter: Wants to improve off ball

Porter said his goal this season is to become the best off-ball player in the NBA, Sharif Phillips-Keaton of USA Today reports.

The forward believes his cutting and catch-and-shoot ability give him the tools to reach that level, though he emphasized that conditioning will be an important factor. Porter should have plenty of opportunities to showcase those skills as he looks to have another significant role with Brooklyn.

  • Nets' Dain Dainja: Lands camp deal

Dainja signed a training camp contract with the Nets on Monday.

Dainja is set to compete for a spot on Brooklyn's regular-season roster during training camp. The organization owns his G League rights, so he'll likely spend the 2026-27 season with the Long Island Nets if Brooklyn waives him.

  • Nets' Noah Clowney: Tougher path to minutes

Clowney acknowledged Monday that his offensive role will shrink following the Nets' acquisition of Julius Randle, adding that he's focused on improving defensively in order to earn playing time, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.

Clowney started 60 of his 66 regular-season appearances last campaign, averaging 12.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 27.0 minutes per game. Randle's arrival is expected to push the 22-year-old into a reserve role and reduce his shot volume, making Clowney's ability to contribute defensively and on the glass increasingly important to securing consistent minutes in Brooklyn's frontcourt.

  • Nets' Nolan Traore: Good to go for camp

Nets general manager Sean Marks said Sunday that Traore (knee) is healthy and ready to participate in training camp, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.

Traore underwent a procedure on his right knee in June after dealing with soreness during the 2025-26 campaign, causing him to miss Summer League. The second-year guard appears to have completed his recovery on schedule and should enter camp with mild restrictions as he competes for a role in Brooklyn's crowded backcourt.

  • Nets' Mikel Brown: Dealing with ankle injury

General manager Sean Marks said Monday that Brown rolled his ankle last week and will ramp up at the start of training camp, Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com reports.

The team "doesn't expect him to miss considerable time," though Brown's status will be worth monitoring heading into the Nets' preseason opener against the Hornets on Tuesday, Oct. 6. The rookie guard was selected with the sixth overall pick this summer and figures to take on a sizable role early in his career. Over 21 appearances (19 starts) at Louisville in 2025-26, he averaged 18.2 points, 4.7 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.2 steals while shooting 41.0 percent from the field in 29.2 minutes per game.

  • Nets' Julius Randle: Eyes bigger role in Brooklyn

Randle said he's looking forward to playing alongside Michael Porter after Brooklyn acquired him this offseason, Sharif Phillips-Keaton of USA Today reports.

After acting as the top-scoring option for most of his Knicks tenure, Randle's usage took an expected dip over his last two years in Minnesota. He lost plenty of playmaking duties to Anthony Edwards with the Timberwolves, but Randle is now in line for a considerable bump in ball-handling responsibilities with the rebuilding Nets. The veteran forward figures to be a focal point of the offense alongside Porter in 2026-27, which should offer Randle plenty of upside in the middle rounds of fantasy drafts this fall.

  • Nets' Grant Nelson: Signs with Brooklyn

Nelson signed a two-way contract with the Nets on Friday, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.com reports.

Nelson appeared in four regular-season games for the Nets during the 2025-26 campaign and will link up with the franchise again. He's expected to spend the bulk of his time with the club's G League affiliate to open the season.

  • Nets' Moritz Wagner: Sits for Germany

Wagner did not participate in Germany's latest FIBA World Cup qualifying window as he turns his attention toward the upcoming NBA season.

Wagner appeared in 36 regular-season games for Orlando last campaign, averaging 6.9 points and 3.2 rebounds in 11.9 minutes per contest. The 29-year-old projects to be a reserve frontcourt option for the Nets in 2026-27 after signing a two-year deal with Brooklyn this offseason. His limited playing time makes consistent fantasy value unlikely. Wagner could become a streaming option in deeper formats if injuries create a larger role.

  • Nets' Nick Pringle: Heading to Brooklyn for camp

Pringle signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Nets on Tuesday, according to NetsDaily.com.

The 24-year-old undrafted rookie is joining Brooklyn for training camp after making three Summer League appearances for the Celtics. If Pringle doesn't make the final roster, he could wind up being rerouted to the G League's Long Island Nets for 2026-27.

  • Nets' Tyler Bilodeau: Set to serve as two-way player

Bliodeau's (rest) first NBA season is set to come as a two-way player in 2026-27.

The Nets grabbed Bliodeau in the second round of the draft earlier this summer and quickly signed the rookie to a two-way contract thereafter. That said, the 22-year-old figures to spend most his time developing with the G League's Long Island Nets and is likely to have a hard time mustering much fantasy relevance in 2026-27.

  • Nets' Chaney Johnson: Set for second year with Nets

Johnson (rest) is getting ready to reprise his role as a two-way player for Brooklyn in 2026-27.

Johnson signed a two-way contract with the Nets in June after occupying a two-way roster spot with the club a year ago. Such a role leaves Johnson more likely to begin the new season as a featured part of the G League's Long Island Nets as opposed to the NBA squad, unless injuries strike the parent team at some point between training camp and the regular season.

  • Nets' Drake Powell: Searching for better results

Powell (rest) is looking to improve this season following a poor rookie campaign in 2025-26.

Powell struggled to make an impression on either end of the floor during his rookie year, averaging 6.5 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 0.6 steals per game while shooting just 40.2 percent from the floor over 63 regular-season appearances (24 starts) in 2025-26. While it appears unlikely he'll start the new year in the first unit, Powell should at least have a leg up on veterans Keon Ellis and Terance Mann for Brooklyn's backup role at shooting guard before training camp kicks off in September.

... See More ... See Less
  • Nets' Terance Mann: Role uncertain for 2026-27

Mann (knee) is unlikely to begin the 2026-27 season as a starter and appears to be buried on the depth chart.

Mann started 51 of his 63 regular-season appearances during his first year with the Nets in 2025-26, but he's all but certain to begin the new campaign as a reserve instead. Brooklyn drafted Mikel Brown in the first round this summer and is also set to get Egor Demin back in the mix, potentially leaving Mann behind Drake Powell, Ben Saraf and Nolan Traore (foot) in a position to fight for scraps with Keon Ellis off the bench.

... See More ... See Less
  • Nets' Mikel Brown: Ready for rookie year

Brown (rest) is primed for a significant role ahead of his rookie season in 2026-27.

The Nets chose Brown with the No. 6 overall pick in this year's draft, so they likely have big plans in mind for the 20-year-old guard right away in 2026-27. Brown, who averaged 15.0 points, 4.0 assists, 1.2 steals and 2.2 three-pointers per game over four Summer League appearances, is lined up to share Brooklyn's starting backcourt with Egor Demin.

... See More ... See Less
  • Nets' Ben Saraf: Preparing for second season

Saraf (rest) is in line for a reserve role in 2026-27 after the Nets drafted Mikel Brown earlier this summer.

The 2025 first-rounder bookended his rookie campaign as a starter, but a bench role appears more likely to open this season now that Brown is in the fold and Egor Demin is healthy. Nolan Traore is recovering from offseason knee surgery but is expected to be ready for the start of training camp in the fall, so Saraf is set to battle with youngsters Traore and Drake Powell as well as veterans Keon Ellis and Terance Mann for playing time in the second unit.

... See More ... See Less
  • Nets' Danny Wolf: Lesser role incoming

Wolf (rest) is ticketed for a reserve role in 2026-27 after the Nets acquired Julius Randle from Minnesota earlier this offseason.

Wolf closed last season as a starter while the Nets gradually began shutting down most of their key players, but the 2025 first-rounder might even struggle for a significant Opening Night role in 2026-27. Not only did Brooklyn add Randle as its starting power forward, but the team also signed Moritz Wagner and drafted Joshua Jefferson to further upgrade the frontcourt.

... See More ... See Less
  • Nets' Egor Demin: Gearing up for second season

Demin (rest) is looking to take a step forward ahead of his second NBA season in 2026-27.

The 2025 first-rounder is coming off an exciting Summer League run, having averaged 21.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.8 steals and 2.6 three-pointers per game over five appearances. Demin is set to work alongside a new backcourt partner after the Nets drafted Mikel Brown earlier this summer, and he should operate as a full-time starter in 2026-27.
