  • Rays' Tyler Wells: Looks good in throwing session

    Rays manager Kevin Cash said Wednesday that Wells (forearm) "looked really good" in a throwing session Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

    Wells has been sidelined for the pat two weeks with right forearm tightness, but he has a good chance to be cleared to be on the Rays' ALDS roster. The righty reliever has been excellent this season in 57 appearances between the Orioles and Rays, logging a 2.38 ERA and 72:18 K:BB over 72 frames.

  • Rays' Jake Woodford: Outrighted by Rays

    The Rays outrighted Woodford to Triple-A Durham on Sunday.

    Woodford passed through waivers after being booted off the 40-man roster. The righty is set to become a minor-league free agent this offseason after posted a 7.81 ERA across 19 relief outings between the Brewers, Cubs and Rays in 2026.

  • Rays' Jonny DeLuca: Homers twice in defeat

    DeLuca went 2-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs in Sunday's 7-3 loss to the Phillies.

    DeLuca got the Rays on the board in the fifth inning with his solo shot off Zack Wheeler before adding a second homer in the seventh off Alex McFarlane. It's the first career multi-homer game for DeLuca, who totaled 11 long balls this year. The outfielder finished the regular season strong, going 9-for-23 (.391) over his last six games. Overall, DeLuca slashed .266/.300/.429 with 50 RBI, 44 runs scored and 17 stolen bases across 370 regular-season plate appearances.

  • Rays' Nick Martinez: Early exit in finale

    Martinez (15-6) took the loss Sunday against the Phillies, allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk across 2.2 innings. He struck out one.

    Martinez gave up a run in the first inning on a Bryson Stott two-out double before the Phillies put up a three spot in the second. The right-hander would ultimately depart in the third, after throwing 50 pitches. Coming into Sunday, Martinez had held opponents to three runs or fewer in each of his previous six outings, posting a 2.52 ERA across 35.2 innings in that span. Martinez will finish the regular season with a 3.10 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 109 strikeouts across 31 starts (180 innings).

    After spending the past five-plus weeks in the minors, Scholtens will return for the final day of the regular season, replacing Ty Johnson in the Rays' bullpen.   • Rays' Junior Caminero: Surpasses 100 RBI in rout

    Caminero went 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, two RBI and three runs scored in Saturday's 12-1 win over the Phillies.

    Caminero opened the scoring with a two-run blast off Aaron Nola in the first inning, reaching 100 RBI for the second straight campaign. According to Adam Berry of MLB.com, the young third baseman became just the ninth player in history to have multiple 40-homer, 100-RBI seasons within his first four years. Overall, he's slashing .277/.361/.526 with 42 long balls, 101 RBI, 100 runs scored and three steals across 700 plate appearances with one regular-season game left to play.
